Chapter Thirteen

Again, we are back in the police station in the interview room, continuing with my statement. Detective Fiona Crawford asked me what went on at the hospital when I went to identify the person that was dead. Which should have been Sofia, but we both know it wasn't. I explained that when I saw the person it was not Sofia's, it was my best friend, Hollie. I think she's beginning to believe that Sofia might still be alive, so she has asked me to gather the information that could help solve the case.

Detective Fiona wanted to talk about what led to the car accident before we went into more detail about the evidence. I was sitting in front of the camera and Detective Fiona Crawford. Thinking about the memories of my and Sofia's friendship makes me emotional because when we were younger, we were like sisters, but everything changed. I will go back and tell you what went wrong on Halloween night.

Flashback: Halloween party When I was getting ready for the Halloween party, I heard the front doorbell ring. I hurried my makeup and ran down the stairs to answer the door. I opened the door, and she smiled at me, Sofia McKeegan. The girl who was my friend caused so many problems. She loves drama. Sofia started talking to me, putting her foot near the door to come in. She is still putting on her fake smile, which does not suit her personality. "Hello, Misha, how's my best friend?" she says. She starts talking again; I swear she likes the sound of her voice. "Come here and give me a hug" she pulls me into a hug.

I didn't want a hug from her because she had treated me, but I thought we could mend things, forget about the past, and rebuild our friendship. "Oh my gosh, I haven't seen you in ages; how have you been?" she says. "I have been all right, thank you for asking " I smile back and move away from her. "Really? I believe that you have broken up with Daniel. I am so sorry about that, " she next says.

"How do you know who told you? "I asked her. My anxiety was coming back again. Who has told her about my current relationship? It would be Daniel's new girlfriend, Tasha. It does not surprise me if it was. My emotions got the better of me, and I just wanted to crumble into her and cry, but I did not because she hadn't been there for me when I needed it. Sofia disrespected me. Plus, I am not wasting my tears on anyone or her because I have a Halloween party to attend.

"Anyway, Sofia, I have a Halloween party to get ready for, and I don't have time to talk things through, " I say, hoping that she will leave. Sofia did not even apologise, and I didn't hear the words I am sorry to come out of her mouth. "I have been invited to the party, so I am coming too, " she said.

"Wait, what? " I say in confusion. "You have an invitation from Samantha?"

"Yes, I have. I got my costume here already for me to wear. She receives the outfit from her hang-bag and rolls her eyes at me. "Look at this, Misha; what do you think? Sofia asked me.

I turned around and noticed that her costume was a devil, and I was going like an angel. My first thought was oh my goodness and my second thought was that it reminded me of the song "The better the devil you know "by Kylie Minogue. My third thought was that she suits it, but I couldn't be that mean to her. "Wow, you look .." I say as she walks past me. "Sofia, I need to talk to you, "I say as I grab her hand and pull her back. "About what?" She spoke. "Where have you been?" I asked her. "You have not been there for me when I needed you. I saw you at our leavers' prom in 2018, and you turned my experience hell that night, "I say, looking at her.

Detective Fiona Crawford: what happened in 2018, Misha?

I began to cry "she bullied me that night, Detective Fiona. She wanted me dead. And I have a feeling that she wanted me to die on Halloween" "She wanted me dead ", I repeat myself.

Detective Fiona Crawford: I believe you, Misha, but you need to tell me more about what happened.

Flashback: Halloween night

"Misha! I am here for you, and I am sorry about how I treated you in high school, "Sofia says. I shake my head. "No, you're not sad; you were the one who bullied me, " Sofia said sorry to me again and that she would never hurt me again.

Detective Fiona Crawford: why wouldn't you accept her apology?

I replied to Detective Fiona, saying that I had given her so many chances and I just had enough; our friendship was broken then. I tell Detective Fiona that I know that Sofia is still alive and I can't escape from her or the hospital. I am in danger. The hospital says I have brain damage and am paralysed, but I am not. Detective Fiona Crawford said it sounds like Sofia has framed you for murder. "You finally believe me?" I asked Detective Fiona Crawford. "I have been telling you for ages," I say. She begins to speak again ''Sorry, I apologise to you, Misha'' Detective Fiona stands up, gets her notepad, and sits back down again. ''So, you say that Sofia might be the person that caused the accident?'' ''' Yes, I think so'', I say. 'Okay, I asked you to try and find something we could use as evidence,'' Detective Fiona Crawford asked me. I reach for my handbag and pull out the documents I saw and the phone. ''I found these documents and a phone,'' I say as I put them on the table. Detective Fiona Crawford looked at the documents and records. Suddenly, I remember waking up in the hospital and seeing someone in a nurse's uniform injecting a needle into me. I noticed that the person was Sofia pretending to be a nurse. I knew I was in danger, but I could not escape because she sedated me, so I could not remember. She wanted to kill me.

I realised that Detective Fiona Crawford was not talking to me; she must have been concentrating on looking at the documents. ''This will prove that Sofia has faked her death because of this document, '' she suddenly speaks. ''Also, we can prove that the hospital lied about your health'' I assume she is right. I need to show her the message that I received the other day. ''Fiona, I need to tell you something,'' I say. I confessed to her that I had an unknown message from someone. And it is Sofia. She continued, "All these things you found could tell us everything. That is what we need. You remember everything, don't you? "I nodded my head. "I remember everything." Sofia did not brainwash me that easily. "That is why you need to tell the truth. "The truth about what happened?"

Detective Fiona replies and says that she will support me all the way.

A tear comes rolling down my face. Detective Fiona finally believes me. "Do you think Sofia has tried to kill me?" I speak. She nods. "But we have to work together, Misha," she whispered. I nodded. "I know for a fact Sofia wanted me to get framed for attempted murder, "I say again. "We can't prove that yet," she says. "I just know that she did," I said. Unwilling to let it go. I know I am correct; it makes sense.

She shakes her head. "Misha, listen, I know that you and Sofia had a toxic friendship, but I don't think that she would plan to kill you" "She was in the accident herself, too "Wait a minute, I thought that Detective Fiona Crawford. Believed me? On the news, it said that you tried suicide that night of the car crash.

That does not make sense. Detective Fiona Crawford changed the subject quickly. "Fiona, I did not try suicide at all late, and I do not know where you got that information. "That is impossible, I say. Yes, I have mental health issues, but I did not try to end my life.

"But wait, Sofia knew that. Did she make me look like I was mental, and I tried to kill her?" I speak.

"She is alive, "I say again. "She's not going to get away with this."
