Flashback: Henshaw Medical HospitalEvery day I woke up in the same ward, but when I opened my eyes, I saw Detective Fiona Crawford and Dr Gilbert sitting at my side.
Dr Gilbert asked me, "Hello, Misha. How are you feeling today?"
"Like I am in a dream, none of this is real. Where are my mum and Grandad?" I put my hand on my head. "Do I have a headache? I feel like I have my head is pounding."
"Well, your awake," he says. "Unfortunately, your mum and grandad will not come to the hospital." Dr Gilbert informs me, and I frown at him. I knew who had caused the accident and looked at Detective Crawford. "It is Sofia McKeegan.... Did you know that she was alive? Did you arrest her?" Her facial expressions did not give me an answer. "Misha, like we have been telling you, Sofia McKeegan is dead."
"Why will you not believe me when I say she is still alive, "I say. "I will tell you what happened last night in this hospital." "I went to the bathroom, and Sofia pretended to be a nurse. You weren't around, and the real nurses were nowhere to be seen. I got on the lift to return to the ward, but I was with Sofia. The lift stopped on the ground floor, and I tried to escape and suddenly fainted. And that's when you found me unconscious on the floor. The main door of the hospital was still open, and the receptionist, Jane Hopper, saw Sofia but didn't do anything about it. You should check the CCTV cameras if you don't believe me."
"All that matters is that you are safe now. "Doctor Gilbert says.
It feels like I am talking to a wall.
Dr Gilbert introduces me to Detective Fiona Crawford.
Detective Fiona Crawford: That is when you meet me.
Misha: I know I have just said that.
I shake my head and laugh.
Flashback: Henshaw Medical Hospital
"This is Detective Fiona Crawford from PortStock Police Department, and she will work on this case and find out what happened. I will leave you to have a conversation" Dr Gilbert smiles as he exits the ward. Detective Fiona Crawford looked like one of my old primary school teachers. "I came here to ask you some questions," Detective Crawford said as she pulled up a chair to sit next to me. "Detective, to be honest, I don't have the energy," I tell her. "I understand, but I only want to ask questions about yourself." Detective Fiona replied. The questions I was asked were.
What is my full name? And I responded: "Misha April Parkes."
Can I state my date of birth? And I didn't know how to respond, so I shook my head.
Where do I live? And I responded, "Knife Grieve Road in PockStock, next to a crematorium, with my grandparents and my mum."
"Why are you asking me all these questions?" I asked her.
"It sounds like your memory is coming back, which is good. We want to take you down to the station for questioning," Detective Fiona Crawford says.
"Why do you want to question me? I told you whom you should go and arrest; that is Sofia McKeegan. She is still alive, "I pleaded. "I am in this hospital because Sofia tried to murder me, and now she is trying to cover it up. I started crying.
'Like I explained that Sofia is dead, and we would like you to come to the station for questioning," She repeated.
"I am in the hospital because I have a concussion from the accident, and I cannot go out of this hospital without the doctor's permission," I replied.
"Well, the doctors have informed us that we can interview at the police station with supervision, and we'll bring you back, but you will be in police custody while you are in the hospital. You are mentally unstable, Misha".
"You cannot do that. I need to stay here to be looked after. I have a severe concussion-like I said before, "I said to the detective.
"Miss Misha Parkes, I'm arresting you on suspicion of murder, you do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something you later rely on in court anything you do say may be given in evidence," I told the detective that I would never murder anyone, she didn't notice. As soon as she speaks, there is a knock on the door, and Doctor Gilbert enters." Is everything all right in here?" he grins as he walks into the wardroom. I am speechless right now because of what has just happened. "I have just been arrested. Did you know about this, Dr Gilbert?" I asked. "They shouldn't be allowed to arrest me because I need to get the treatment I need in the hospital. And the police don't believe that Sofia is still alive. "
Dr Gilbert gave me a slow response when I asked him, "I did know that the police were going to come and speak to y, you and they can arrest you, and we have given permission for them to take you to the police station to speak to you. I've also decided to sign you into the mental health department, and you'll stay here until you get better."
"Pardon me?"
He smiles. "You are going to get help, Misha."
"I don't need help. There is nothing wrong with me, and I haven't gone mental and know I haven't killed anybody."
"Misha, you have suffered from brain damage, and you suffer from having mental health problems anyway. Don't be afraid to admit it; we will give you a scan."
I am sure they could be better themselves. This is not normal. "You don't know what you're on about. My brain is all right, thank you, "I say, "I am not going anywhere, and I'm going home."
"Hospitals are supposed to feel safe and secure, and I don't feel safe at all here. I feel like I'm trapped, and I can't escape, and the detectives are supposed to help the victim to find out what happened, not to arrest them."
"You're not trapped ", Dr Gilbert.
"Misha, can you please come with me to the station? You are under arrest," Detective Fiona said. "The sooner you get the interview done, the better. Then you can come back to the hospital ", Doctor Gilbert said.
I begin to have a panic attack. I try to hold back my tears, but they fall anyway. I get into the wheelchair, and my legs are shaking with nerves. Detective Fiona Crawford pushed me down the ward corridor to get me to the hospital building entrance, where her police car was. She helped me get into the back of the car, and I just looked out the window and cried.
