I counted down the time to the result. Elwin says it's going to be about ten minutes, nine have passed and I'm starting to worry. Sophie next to me has already started plucking her eyelashes. I, on the other hand, support my chin with my hands and look straight at the clock. Edaline tries to calm Sophie down by stroking her hair. She insisted on being there. Grady stayed at Havenfield waiting for the next batch of animals due today.

After exactly eleven minutes, Elwin walked through the door with a big smile. "we aren't siblings, are we?" Sophie asks quietly, looking hopefully at Elwin. Oh, she probably didn't want to be my sister. But seriously, who would? I thought we got along just fine, but apparently we don't. The only friend i will ever have is and always will be Alice, she was always there for me and it hurt me to leave her, seeing her is probably what i look forward to the most.

Elwin shakes his head, "No, the test is positive. Congratulations you are siblings!" I see Edaline and Sophie's jaws dropping, I feel the same. Just trying to keep my feelings and thoughts to myself. Maybe it was good to be related to her. That gives me that Opportunity to get involved in more important things.

"But we don't have to hug each other crying and comfort each other, do we?" I look questioningly at Edaline and Sophie, who are doing just that. They probably didn't hear me. "No, but if you need someone to comfort you. I have an excellent stuffed animal collection," Elwin holds up a bear. Horrified, I look at the toy: "No thanks, I don't."

He pouts, but then turns to Sophie and Edaline: "You have to go, because Keefe is coming." Before I can catch my breath, Sophie has already asked: "What happened?" Elwin sighs and explains, "Little accident on Elementism. Nothing special, just a burn."

"Nothing special?! I have to go see him again!" I snort and say, "He's 16, he'll get by without you!" "Funny hearing you say that!", Sophie hisses. Okay, she's angry. That was maybe a bit too much. I hold my Hands up. "Lets try truce! How about that? I have no problem with you. You can take him if you want." But something deep inside me told me that I would have problems with it.

I can't believe Sophie stayed with Elwin. How desperate is she? Edaline came with me, but we didn't talk to each other. She just stared at me silently the whole time. When we get to Havenfield, she does open her mouth, but Grady interrupts her.

"Could you help me? A bugbear ran away, I can't find him anywhere!" He sounds desperate and Edaline and I rush to him. "What's a bugbear?" I turn to them both. Grady explains that they are small rat-like creatures with a brown shell, similar to turtles. Immediately the two run out and want to look for it outside. However, I stay inside the barn because I suspect that the animal simply hid somewhere in the gras.

I look everywhere but I can't find it. Even when I get the snacks to help, it stays gone. And suddenly I hear footsteps. It's coming from outside, I look out and I actually see an ugly little creature running towards the stable. Edaline and Grady run behind the being. Both scream something but I don't understand it. When they are only a few meters away from me, I finally understand something.

"Emmy! Close the stall when he walks in!" Something darts past me and crawls behind one of the straw bales. I close the large door with full force. I turn in the direction of where the squeaking noises are coming from. From close up the little animal is actually quite cute.

Grady and Edaline carefully open the door and give me a questioning look. I point to the little heap of misery that has curled up and fallen asleep. "Ah, it's finally sleeping. The critters actually do that most of the year, but when they're awake they're hyperactive." Grady sits down next to me and examines it.

"Is it he or she?" I turn to him. He points to the Bugbear's shell with his finger. And explains patiently: "See the slight golden coloring? That means it's a male." "And how do you recognize a female?" I ask again. "She doesn't have this coloration." I nod and look at the brown animal.

Grady wipes the dirt off his face with a nearby cloth: "What did the result actually say? Is Emmy Sophie's sister ?" Edaline's anxious, as if she doesn't know what to say. So I reaveal it: "It was positive, Sophie is my biological sister."

Contrary to Edaline's and Sophie's reaction, his wasn't particularly strong. "We expected that, didn't we?" He tries to smile but fails. It stings my heart even though I knew I couldn't stay here forever. I nod and then raise my hand in farewell , then I go.

As I go downstairs for supper, I notice that the house is unusually quiet. I step into the dining room and see Keefe sitting at the other end of the table. This guy is already following me home, even though it's not really my home. "What's he doing here?!", I point to Keefe and pull a face. I don't want to see him any longer, I don't need any reminders of today. I don't even know what happened, but because it has something to do with Keefe and dance, it can't have ended well.

"Well, that's what I'm wondering, too," Grady mumbles into his food. "Wow, the welcome here is always nicer. But FYI, I invited myself." I roll my eyes as Sophie laughs. It was clear that something like this was coming. I sit as far away from him as possible and open myself some food.

There's an awkward silence in the room and Keefe tries to break it, clearing his throat and immediately getting a disapproving look from Grady. "I heard you did a DNA test today. I think he turned out positive, right?" Everyone nods in turn. He nods too. Ro calls out from the darkest corner.

"Ah, now I know why Keefe likes the little devil so much, it must be in the blood." Sophie and I look at her in bewilderment, then we turn to the food again. The rest of the meal passed in silence and when I finished I went out to check on Bijou. Yes, that's what I call him, the little rascal. And nobody can stop me, silly as the name is.

I'm stroking his armored back when I hear footsteps behind me. "Everything's all right Grady, the door is closed. He can't get out." I say without looking up. Behind me I here his voice: "I'm just here to tell you that Lord Hunkyhair left with his bodyguard Romilda." Lord Hunkyhair, Grady would never call him that, except he himself tries to imitate him.

I sigh annoyed and ask him suspiciously: "Sencen, what do you want here?" I'm still stroking Bijou when I hear him crouch down next to me. This time I ask a little more irritated: "WHAT do you want here!?" He raises his hands soothingly: "Heyy, I come in peace, everything is fine. I just wanted to see how my favorite devil is doing" he looks at me intently while I look at him in amazement.

Keefe is never that thoughtful or even that nice, as long as you can call it nice. I didn't need pity, and certainly not from him. And that's exactly what I tell him to his face. "I don't have pity for you, but I feel sorry for you." "Seriously? that's pity!" I snap at him. I didn't want anyone to know my real feelings. And it didn't make things any easier that he could read my emotions.

He looks at me, and I know that he reads my emotions. "Well then, Devil, I'll go." "I can still see you!" He rubs his hair in despair and then leaves. Finally. I sigh in relief and sit for a while. I structure my thoughts again and then say goodbye to Bijou before I change my mind and take him with me. I will miss someone to talk to about my worries. Or someone who is just there.
