Owen Mona
Something jolted me awake in my sleep. Like the feeling of falling, but instead it was a voice.
... me, I'm sorry.
It sounded a lot like Piper, but that couldn't be her. We haven't accepted one another as mates. Being able to mind-speak is a gift only after. But it sounded just like her. I would have known her voice anywhere. I shook off the thought and tried to go back to sleep, my clock showing me that it was too early in the morning to be awake.
As I tried to drift off back to sleep, the thought of her touching my arm jolted me right awake again. I actively fought against the idea of her touching me somewhere else, but I was unsuccessful. I groaned in my bed and slipped out. I put my head in my hands and attempted to get the evil thought that is Piper Lancaster out of my head.
When I finally calmed down, something was off. I walked out of my room, looked up and down the hallway. I walked up to Beau's door and knocked, not bothered to be quiet. He opened the door, his hair was in shambles.
"Dude, come on what do you want? It's 6 in the morning and a Saturday. I was going to sleep in." He grumbled. Man loves his beauty rest.
"Beau, does anything feel off to you? I can't put my finger on it. Did you hear or notice anything?" I asked him, my body was fully alert and couldn't stop fidgeting. My heart started to race, and I couldn't tell why. It was freaking me out. Beau noticed my uneasiness and woke up a little more.
"Uh no, I was asleep. What's going on?" He asked, his voice smoothed out. I shook my head and made my way to Piper's room. She was usually awake pretty early. She had a couple of nightmares recently. I knocked quietly on the door, Beau standing behind me.
"Piper?" I asked out loud. I heard another door open. I heard Jamie's voice ask Beau what was going on, but I ignored them. I pounded on the door next.
"Piper, are you okay?" I almost shouted. I was really nervous now. Screw it, I thought. I opened her door to find her room empty. I walked in trying to see if she was somewhere else.
"Where is she?" I heard Theo asked. I didn't know when he joined us, but I was even more concerned now. Jamie ran down the stairs and checked the rooms. I noticed her jacket was gone, and her blankets were thrown up and not made. She made the bed every morning.
"She is not downstairs guys. Her mom is not here either." Jamie stated, all four of us stood in her empty room. I ran my fingers through my tossed hair and cursed. Theo still seemed optimistic.
"Maybe they just left to get better. You know her mom was itching to get out of here." Theo suggested. I grabbed my chin.
"Doesn't make it any better. There is something in the pit of my stomach. My heart is racing, I feel... scared." I said, realization coming up on me. Piper. She's scared. She is in trouble. I saw my father come in the doorway. We all turned to him. He was usually up this early.
