Wednesday and Thursday went by like a snap of a finger, and it was officially Friday. Game day. The one and only time I will dress nice, and look good. Other than taking Jo out tomorrow night, I couldn't be happier. We talked and texted over the next couple of days. It sucked like hell being away from her for this long. It felt like it was a fucking month. My heart sank after realizing the fact I would be leaving her behind in the next three months, if I get the contract. It was going to be hard, but so worth it.

She was worth it. This was worth it.

"You look very nice, hun." My mom called to me, taking one out of my thoughts. She stood at about 5 feet even, her hair pulled back in a ponytail, a cardigan wrapped around her tiny frame. It always surprised me that she was this small, and she carried and pushed me out; 6'5". Obviously getting my height from my sad excuse of a father.

"Thanks, mom. You know how this goes." I replied by tucking my black dress shirt into my dark gray dress pants. Every game day we had to dress in some fancy attire. I would much rather wear sweatpants, and a hoodie, but doesnt matter what I think.

"Are you going over to her house before the game?" My mom asked, her arms crossed over her chest.

"Of course. I have to give her my jersey to wear tonight." I grabbed the box off the counter, slinging my bag over my shoulder. My mom walked into my room, her face going stone.

"Are you being safe?" she whispered. My eyes bulged out of my skull and groaned.

"Mom, I dont wanna have this-"

"Answer me, Colby James." She ordered. I winced at my middle name. I always hated it when she would call me out like that. Made me feel like I was in trouble. Even though I no longer lived here, I liked coming over to stay for a couple of days so she wasn't so lonely.

"Are you being safe? Do I need to worry about a little Colby running around here? Cause so help me God, Colby... I'm too out of my element for that."

"Yes mom, Jesus. I am! She's not like that at all! Can we talk about something else?" I grabbed my keys, shocking them in my pocket. I heard my phone go off, and instantly grabbed it, sliding the message open. My heart skipped seeing Jo's name on my screen.

Angel: I've said it countless of times already, but I can't wait to see you again. <3

I smirked at the message and swiped a reply.

Me: You'll see me soon, in every form. Just wait, Angel. ;)

"Colby. I'm talking to you." My mom sighed. I locked my phone and slid it back into my pocket.

"Sorry mom. Can I go now?" I asked backing to the door, but her arm hooked into my bag strap, plopping it to the floor.

"Nope. I just want to know when I'm gonna meet her. Or her parents." Mom stated, leaning on the counter. I pursed my lips and gave her a look shaking my head.

"You can meet her after Saturday. And we've talked about her, and her parents' mom, remember. They were in an accident years ago. So she probably won't want to talk about that."

"Oh my, you are right, it keeps slipping from my head." she rubbed her temples, and closed her eyes shut, sighing. I roped her in my arms, and her head leaned into my chest.

"Don't worry mom, you're still my favorite woman in my life. No one is going to take your place." I chuckled. "I'm just a growing man, and I do like her a lot."

"I know, sweetie. It is just hard seeing you grow up and make your own choices, knowing I don't have a say in them. I'm so proud of the person you are." Mom whimpered to me. My throat felt dry, as I pulled away from our embrace. I looked down at her and smiled warmly before backing away.
