A/N: Hey everyone! So the premise of this one-shot is similar to the one I saw not too long ago about a dating service made for pro heroes and elite society members. Most of the details are explained in the fic but lmk if you guys have any questions. :)
~Begin~
You sighed, typing away at the computer in your office cubicle.
"I'm telling you (y/n), it's personalized and everything!" Your coworker explained, "and I'll get you in for free since my cousin works there! they need more people anyways, there aren't enough compatibilities."
You clicked out of the form you had finished filing and exited the screen. You looked at her.
"Ok, Mari, if this gets you to stop hounding me about it, then I'll do it." You said, rubbing your temples. She squealed.
"Yes! I'll email you the details after lunch. What're you thinking today?" She asked. You smiled softly. "Let's go check out that new cafe down the street. I heard that they have really good sandwiches."
~Timeskip~
After the pair of you had gotten back from lunch, you had resumed filing paperwork. You worked at a law firm that was partnered with multiple hero agencies. You handled the subsequent insurance claims that came along with the collateral damage caused by heroes and villains during battles.
A couple of hours passed, nearing the time for everyone to clock out. You heard a ding come from your second monitor when you paused to take a sip of your iced coffee. You turned and clicked on it. It was an email from Mari, with all the details of the dating service she kept nagging you about. You clicked on the link and it took you to a form that you had to fill out to gain access to the service. You forwarded it to your email and finished up for the day.
You clocked out and shut everything down in your cubicle, seeing that only a few stragglers had stuck behind to finish up lengthy claims. It was 6 pm and you rushed out of the building to catch the train to your apartment.
As you sat in the subway, you put in your headphones. Scrolling through the news, you came across a video of the most recent devastating villain and hero battle. You clicked on the link.
"In an unexpected event today, a vigilante from Tartarus has escaped. Pro heroes Deku, Dynamight, and Shouto are on the scene, attempting to prevent the vigilante from gaining further access to the city." The camera from the helicopter that circled the scene zoomed in to where you could see flashes and blurs of green in a huge cloud of smoke. Large explosions escaped the thick plum and ice and fire burst up out of it. Your eyes widened slightly. It must be a pretty powerful guy to have the big three struggling against him like that.
You heard a ding, as the train lurched to a stop. You glanced up, looking through your eyelashes, and got up, sliding your phone into your pocket. You picked up your briefcase and purse and stood, walking out of the subway. You walked down the street, the early nightlife of your neighborhood buzzing. Doors were left open with warm light spilling out onto the street, and thick alleyways of weeds and graze were sprinkled with fireflies and dew. The laughter of children rang through the streets, and families walked home from parks, clad in shorts and tank tops, enjoying sweet popsicles in the sticky summer heat. Sweat beaded on your forehead as you trudged up the hill to your home, which was a small apartment in a building with 5 other units. It was old, and run down, but everything worked, the price was cheap, and the landlord was kind enough to watch your 5 yr old son after he got home from school, so you couldn't complain much.
You turned the corner, and your little slice of paradise came into view. You trekked up the stairs and knocked on your landlord's door. It swung open to reveal your little ball of sunshine, Kaito.
