A/n: Just some feel-good fluff crap, because I feel the need to be held and no one is doing it (TToTT)

Your breath puffed out of your mouth in small clouds of steam as your mount trudged through the knee-deep snow. Anise, your chestnut brown horse practically chugged along the un-ploughed, snow-covered path. It had been years since you found yourself walking along this path, and, as it was winter all over the upper hemisphere, it was hard to tell if a certain someone had managed to be... well, you prefer to call it rescued, or think of it in that manner, but others might say 'exterminated.'

You had heard rumors over the planes that the 'snowman,' had been put to rest, but you hadn't been able to make your way through the route you normally would have to return to your hometown, due to the mountain pass being blocked. With that in mind, you had to travel down the mountain range and find an alternate route, which had taken years of trekking through uncharted and unfamiliar landscapes. Poor Anise's hooves had seen more ground than you cared to admit.

You tugged your scarf closer to your face, doing your best to keep warm while you offered soothing pats to your weathered horse, a wool blanket doing what it could to keep the warmth she produced close to her. You squinted, a light coming into view through the mist and snow of the quiet night. You clicked your tongue and urged Anise forward quicker, hoping to take shelter in the barn for the evening.

You dismounted, taking note of the woodshed, the barn, and other structures. A vague memory tugged at the back of your mind, and you quickly realized this was Finn's family's homestead. Or at least, it had been before he had found that wretched crown. A sour taste appeared in your mouth, but you had no choice at this point. Someone must've taken up residence here. You trudge through the knee-deep snow and knock on the door, loosening your scarf to reveal your face in an attempt to appear more friendly. You heard the giggles and shouts of children beyond the door, which brought a smile to your face.

Then, you heard a somewhat familiar voice, which was creeping closer to the door, telling the children to go back upstairs to bed. The door opened, warm light flooding over your pink flushed face. Your eyes widened.

"...Finn?"

You whispered hoarsely, eyes wide and watery. The eyes of the man who stood before you widened. He was tall, intimidating, muscular, and everything else that anyone could've described as the 'ideal specimen.'

"(Y/n)?" He spoke softly, voice full of fondness and confusion. You blinked rapidly.

"I-I... oh my glob, Finn, you're alive,"  You whisper, cold, chapped lips trembling, your cold hand coming up to cover your face, "I thought... I mean, I had heard rumors..." You gulped as Finn's eyes teared up.

"I'm so happy to see you." He said, pulling you into a tight hug, his metal arm digging into your bicep. Your arms moved to embrace him, a soft sob escaping you as your hands bunched in his sweater. A moment later, Finn released you.

"Please, come in. It's warm, and we have food." He said, speaking softly.

"I- My horse," you say, gesturing. Finn nods, puts his jacket on, and heads out the door.

"I'll take care of it, go inside and rest. I'll be right back, there's soup on the stove, help yourself."

Not much later, Finn comes back inside, dusting snow off his shoulders, and stomping his boots off. He takes off his jacket and then turns to you, smiling and walking forward, pulling you into a hug once again, warm, and sturdy. You, of course, hug him back.

An hour or so later, Finn has walked you through all that had happened since his time as the 'snowman' or 'ice Finn.' He also explained he couldn't remember anything that had happened during the duration of this, so he had thought you might've died, since you were nowhere to be found, at least, in a location where he had thought to look.

You smiled softly and held his hand, resting your head on his shoulder as you rubbed your thumb over the skin. Your smile faded to a frown.

"I'm sorry I left, Finn..." You said with a sigh, "I just..."

"No, I'm glad you did. I could've hurt you, I'm surprised I didn't."

"You didn't even try Finn," I say with a laugh, "You tried to convince me to stay and be your 'Ice Princess."

Finn chuckled, turning red at the ears under his hat.

"Well, you know I've always felt like that for you... my wife.. she was amazing, but... I hate to say this, glob rest her soul, but it has always been you" He whispers. Your eyes widen as he continues. "I just... (Y/n), there hasn't been a day since that crown came up off my head that I haven't thought of you. She knew that. And I... I did love her but... not the way I loved... love you."

You think for a moment.

"Finn... I wish that you'd never found that crown." You say softly, "I wish we could've just stayed kids, and never even... even..." You trail off. Finn cups your face in his hand, guiding you to look up at him, pulling you closer to him on the rugged couch you both sit on.

"I wish that too. I wish.. a lot of things, but, we're here now, and... the only regret I have is that a decision I made led to you leaving me. I... If you choose to stay... " Finn laced his fingers with yours, planting a gentle kiss on your forehead. "I'd love it if you stayed."

You smiled warmly.

"Y'know Finn Mertens, I oughta tell you how much trouble I went through getting here. With the amount of time it took me to cross those ding dang mountains, I doubt I'll ever be leaving this sweet lil homestead of yours." You say with a grin.

Finn smiled back, not quite the big-toothed smile he would've given you back when you were kids, with no idea how fucked up the world was, but a smile that said, 'I'm glad to have you back.'

A few months had passed, and you were starting to get into the groove of helping around the homestead. With Jay gone, off with little destiny in Fiona's dimension, Finn needed tons of help with the kids, since farming and caring for the homestead was a full-time job for him.

The snow on the ground was melting but frost still nipped at your fingers as you swept the walkway free of leaves, and anything else that had happened its way onto the cobbled stone. The muffled sound of Finn's children inside the house reached your ears and you smiled fondly. You then heard the crunch of frosty grass underfoot. You looked up and smiled warmly at the big man before you, his face all rosey, and nose shining in the light.

"Welcome back Finn," you said, setting aside the homemade broom against the house and opening the door to let him in. The kids were playing on the ground in front of the fire, and there was the smell of fresh cinnamon rolls in the air. "Back for lunch?" You asked softly, taking the heavy load of wood from his arms and piling it onto the stack next to the fireplace.

"yeah," He said, taking off his coat, and hugging you tightly. He planted a kiss on the cheek and you giggled, cupping his cold face in an attempt to warm up the skin. He hummed happily, a small smile on his face, eyes fluttering gently.

"So, how full's the wagon?" you ask, rubbing warmth into his cheeks with your thumbs.

"Full," he grunts out, "Anise earned her right to a warm barn tonight, hauling that thing." You smile in response to that and turn to watch the kids, who are caught up in their little worlds. "Thanks for watching them." He says softly, pressing a kiss to the crown of your head. You snuggled closer into his arms and hummed.

"Delighted to, they're incredibly well-behaved, so it isn't much of a hassle." You remarked. Finn snorted.

"To you, but to me, they're like little demons."

You scoffed, "Oh nonsense!" and pinched his belly. He grunted and chuckled, squeezing you and tickling you for a moment before you both settled into a cuddle puddle on the couch.

"I'm happy you're here... every time I come home, my day gets a little better." He says, his cold nose sliding against your jaw. You hummed receptively.

"I'm happy to be here."
