The band was now back at the bottom and had to work their way back up to the top again. They were back to doing gigs and working up a reputation seeing how it was kinda stained from Fantasy Records nearly screwing them out of their royalty disputes. But luckily, they still had a fanbase who loved and cared for them as much as all the other bands, even though so fans turned on them for selling out while most fans stayed loyal.

Now The Starmakers, a four-piece band, were now doing gigs back in bars and clubs. And with the permanent departure of Lars Wilson on bass, they needed a new bassist. They held multiple auditions to see who would be the next bassist for the band. They landed on one dude in particular, Ben Carson, also known as "B-Dawg" (who was at this time breaking up from his previous group, The Underground Rappin' Haven) came to the audition as he was massive fan of The Starmakers' music.

The band loved what they heard from B-Dawg's skills of bass playing, came two weeks later, they got back to him and said that he was in the band. And of course this got the attention of B-Dawg's younger twin brother, Zack Carson, also known as "Z-Dawg".

He heard that his brother joined the band, and seeing how he stemmed from the same group they broke up from and how he had some potential on guitar, he also wanted in the band

He heard that his brother joined the band, and seeing how he stemmed from the same group they broke up from and how he had some potential on guitar, he also wanted in the band. Lorin and the band told him no, but B-Daeg insisted he'd join as he always wanted his brother to be apart of something as he was musically inclined. So the band gave in and let Zack on electric guitar guitar.
