You were working your daily shift at a local barista in New York.
The sound of the pouring rain was the only thing you could hear.
The shop was empty, barely no human being to be seen on the streets as you looked outside."the storm will get even worse this afternoon, if you want you can leave after you finished cleaning." your boss said, "hopefully you'll be on time before the main roads are flooded by water."
"If that is okay with you than I really appreciate it." you answered with a smile. you grabbed a cleaning cloth from the cabinet and started cleaning the countertops.
"I am leaving now before the highways are too crowded, do you mind closing?" he asked as he put on his coat. "yeah no problem." he nodded "thanks y/n, i'll see you tomorrow!" he grabbed his bag and left the shop. after finishing the countertops you started doing the last few shores before closing. you were caught off guard when you heard the bell ring, meaning someone entered the shop. you turned around to greet the person.
"Hi... oh gosh you are soaked." you said as you looked at the man completely soaked from head to toe, his hair was flat and water was dripping on the floor. the man let out a small laugh, "yeah, it wasn't smart to go for a walk even though I knew this was about to happen." you laughed. "so stupid," he chuckled as he slowly took his jacket off. "We have a heater back in the kitchen, if you want I can take your jacket too let it dry." you suggested, the man smiled "If that is no problem, than I would hate myself for saying no."
you smiled and he gave you his jacket, you walked to the kitchen and layed the jacket on top of the heater. When you returned back to the bar the man sat on one of the bar stools cleaning his black glasses with a paper towel. "Can i get you a coffee?" you asked, "yeah a black coffee please." he replied. after two minutes his coffee was ready, "there you go," you smiled. you served his coffee with a small piece of cranberry pie. "This is on the house, it would be a waste to throw it away."
"I was really craving pie today, guess I am a lucky man," he replied and digged his fork into your selfmade cranberry pie. "hmm, this is really really good," you laughed at the way he was eating, he noticed and laughed too, "I am sorry, I got a little carried away."
"Yeah, I do have those times too.." you smiled. You took off your apron and folded it before placing it on the countertop."y/n.. that is a beautiful name." he said in a beautiful accent, his eyes looking at your name tag. "thanks," you blushed a little as you looked at him "and what about you?" you asked, "what about me?" he teased, "your name?" he smiled "Pedro," he replied again with his accent.
Pedro took a sip from his coffee, seeing his facial expression you know he is enjoying it. "the best coffee I had in years." he said, again making you blush. "just a normal black coffee with a special touch." you answerd delighted. "and what is that special touch?"
"It is a secret." you teased. he smiled, "one day, i will find out what that special touch is," you laughed, "you wish, I am very good at keeping secrets.." you said very confident.
"I do have my ways..." it was quite for a few seconds before you two started laughing.after having multiple conversations about different topics the time passed by very quickly.
you both realised at some time that you both had to go but the roads were flooded.
"There is no way I will be making it home," you sighed, pedro took his jacket from the kitchen, "it is still soaked," he said pouting his lips, you grabbed your trenchcoat and purse and made yourself ready to go outside. "So, I probably have to stop at my best friends house, hoping I can sleep over tonight," you said as you turned the sigh to closed. "I hope I can make it back to the hotel before getting comepletly drenched again," he chuckled. You both walked out the door, Pedro waited for you to close the shop, his hands buried in his pockets. "It was nice meeting you Pedro," you smiled. "It was nice meeting you too y/n."
you waved and walked off."wait!" you turned aroud and saw pedro running up behind you, "I forgot to ask one important thing." he panted, you smiled and covered your eyed from the rain so you could look at him.
"can i have your number?" he asked carefully, not knowing what you would answer.
you smiled, you wanted to ask him too but you were too afraid, "ofcourse," you handed him your phone and he took over your phone number and he added yours in his.
"now you can go, before you get just as soaked as me," he smiled. "okay," you replied, Pedro waved at you and so did you before you both walked off this time.
