Anika's P.O.V
The incident with Levi happened three weeks ago, and my bruises are barely visible now, which is a blessing. Since that day, I hadn't been outside in fear of running into Levi, but I was motivated to get up and do something. Since my parents covered all our living expenses, I thought it was best to look for a job so that I could make some money for myself before we were cut off. In order to help us settle in, they agreed to cover everything for four months. It was supposed to be my responsibility to find a job so I could assist Maia in paying our bills.
The fact that Maia had already got a job at one of the world's top fashion companies made me feel pathetic. Rather than working on my new book and finding a job to support myself, here I was crying over a man. As I have remained confined to my room these past two weeks, I have been applying for positions. Although I sent in my resume for at least ten job openings, I only received three calls back about being a receptionist. Today is the first interview, and the other two will be held two days later.
I racked my closet for an appropriate outfit for this interview. I found an outfit that would be perfect for the occasion.
I looked at the time on my wristwatch and saw that it was 8:15 and my interview was for 9:00 a.m. I was right on time.

I looked around in amazement at the building. It was huge and the inside looked absolutely gorgeous. I was greeted by a brunette-haired woman who carried herself with such elegance.
"Good Morning Ma'am, I am Ms. Lewis the personal assistant of Mr. Stiles, I assume you are here for the receptionist position am I right?" She greeted me with a welcoming smile.
"Good Morning, I'm Ms. White and yes you are," I said trying to sound as professional as possible.
"Follow me," she said. I followed behind her like a lost puppy. She took me to a sitting area where there were four other people sitting and waiting patiently to be interviewed.
"You can have a seat here, you will be called when it's your turn," She said before walking off.
I looked around and most people seemed confident that they were going to get the position but I sat playing with my fingers nervously.

I walked out of the company and let out a big sigh. I did not get rejected in any way but they told me I would be called back if I got the position.
I decided to go to the grocery because we were running low on food.
I picked up some meals that were easy to prepare like ramen and mac and cheese because lord knows how bad I am at cooking. I reached for the last cinnamon toast crunch that was left on the shelf but someone beat me to it.
"You clearly saw I was going for that," I said watching the dread-haired man.
"Well I got it first," He said trying to walk away with my cinnamon toast crunch.
"Fucktard that is mine," grabbing it from his hold. He chuckled and shook his head.
"Marcus Ward," He said putting his hand out for me to shake.
"Anika White," I said shaking his hand.
Before I knew what was going on he pulled me closer to him and grabbed the cereal out of my other hand and ran off.
"MOTHERFUCKER!" I screamed after him.
Dumb, stupid, asshole I screamed in my mind and picked up a frosted flake instead.
"That would be $145," The cashier said.
Before I could pay for it. A hand shot in front of me and paid for it instead.
"Than-" I stopped myself when I saw who paid.
"L-Levi," I stuttered out. My hands began to violently shake. I grabbed the grocery bags and dashed outside. I could feel the tears build up but I refused to let them fall.
I couldn't get away fast enough because as soon as I made it out the door I felt a hand grab mine.
"Principessa, I missed you," He said. I ripped my hand out of his and glared at him.
"Don't you miss me?" He said tilting his head a little to the side.
"Did you forget what you did?" I spat at him balling up my fist.
"Did you like the flowers?" He said completely ignoring what I said. My expression changed immediately from anger to confusion.
"What flowers?" I questioned.
"I sent flowers every day with cards to apologize," he said holding onto my hands. "Mi amore, I'm really sorry for what I did, I swear it would never happen again," He pleaded.
His attitude made a 360-degree turn. He no longer had the intimidating look on his face, he looked completely broken.
"Levi I can't deal with this now," I said the strong facade I had on was breaking.
"I don't want to live without you Anika, Please forgive me," He said squeezing my hand a little.
"I don't know Levi, I have to think about it," I said pulling my hand out of his hold.
"Let me take you home," He said gesturing me towards his car.
"Ok," I said too tired to fight with him anymore.
The ride to my house was filled with awkward silence. I could see from the side of my eye that he glanced at me every time we were at a stop or when there was a red light.
In no time I was outside my house. I quickly unbuckled my seatbelt to get out of the car but he stopped me.
"Let me help you with those," He said referring to the grocery bags that were packed in the backseat.
He helped me carry all the bags to the door and tried kissing me on my forehead but I pulled away.
I took the bags inside and rest my head on the door. I could feel the tears leaking out of my eyes.
"Was that Levi?" Maia said from behind me.
I turned and saw Maia watching me with disappointment.
