Kitsune dragged his feet behind Itachi. It was another long day of traveling and the sun had long since set. They walked across an empty plane of sand. Here it was blistering in the day but frigid at night. The winds blew layers of sand over their feet and in their shoes.
"Ugh!"
Kitsune grunted as he plopped himself down and yanked off his sandle. Itachi turned to see him roughly shaking the dirt from the inside of his shoe.

"Come now little one."
He called.

Kitsune groaned as he wedged his shoe back on and caught up with the Uchiha.
"How much longer I'm tired!"

"It is not far now."
He nodded.
"... you would not be so tired if you had left that!"
He nodded towards the executioners blade that was firmly strapped to the blonds back.

"What do you mean! There's nothing but sand for miles! And you know there's no way in hell I was gonna leave something as cool as this just laying around for someone else to take! I won it, far and square!"
He declared.

Shaking his head Itachi ignored the reasoning of his little companion.
"It's just over this ridge."
He nodded up at the one in front of them.

"You said that last time!"

"Yes, but this time"
He stood on the top of the tall ridge staring down into its valley.
"I'm not laying!"

Kitsune's eyes sparked at the glowing city, surrounded by walls carved from the mountain around it. It was a unique place, nothing like what Kitsune had ever seen! Infact he had never been outside the land of fire before, let alone go as far as the land of wind.
"What is this place?"
He asked, eyes full of stars.

"This is Suna, village hidden in the sand! A powerful village indeed."

"Stronger then the hidden leaf?"
Kitsune tilted his head.

"Not quite"
Itachi spoke.
"But they certainly could put up a fight when needed to."

"Awesome!"
He exclaimed.
"Well what are we waiting for!"
He charged down the hill at full speed, leaving behind a chuckling Itachi. He to ascended the ridge, however with much more elegance in his step.

"Kitsune!"
He called just before the boy was in sight of the guards. Kitsune turned and ran back.

"Aw, what is it now~!"
He wined as he trudged back. Itachi crouched down on one knee as he removed his cloak and put it into his bag. Kitsune quickly realized what they were doing and he too removed anything pertaining to the Akasuki and put them in the bag as well. This included his mask and cloak. Kitsune was nervous to relinquish them but Itachi reassured that no one would recognize a random blond. Itachi also helped him put the sword in a sealing scroll, then swung the bag over his shoulder and the two continued to the entrance.

As they approached the guard stopped them.
"Halt! Who goes there? State your business!"

"I am traveling through with my younger brother!"
Itachi put his arm around Kitsune's shoulders.
"We seek a room for the night, and will be gone by dawn!"

"Proceed!"
The guard bellowed and the two continued on their way. As they reached inside the village, there must have been a holiday or some celebration commencing, the streets were all a glow and the shops full of games. Prizes hung from the walls, circuse performers danced and twirled, showing off their talents, and little children ran all around. Every one was happy and joyous. Laughing, talking, and cheering. Itachi really wondered what they had walked into. Kitsune didn't care, all he knew was that he had walked into heaven! He ran this way and that, wanting to play every game and watch all the performances.
