Summary: Dazai takes a walk

What was that smell?

The mix of Cotton, gluten, jolli, and...taffy?

Ah.

Dazai's shiny shoes clicked along the side-walk, his fluffy brown hair blowing in the wind.

He turned his head, and spotted the candy store. Mmmm.... He thought.

From here, without making it noticeable that he was peeking inside (he didn't wanna look like an absolute child—now), he could see from the glass that the candy shop has displays of taffy lined along the window. Big bowls, all sorts of flavors lining down the table on the other side of the glass.

Blueberry, strawberry, lime, watermelon— and, Dazai's personal favorite,

Cherry.

He licked his lips, thinking about the candy taffy melting in his mouth, the sugar satisfying and making his tastebuds dance.

"Hey, buddy. You got any money on ya?"

Dazai snapped out of his sugar-craving daze, letting his eyes settle on a stand-owner standing off the side-walk. They had a stand with them, full of fresh and ripe apples. It was an old lady, she had an old and rugged bag with her and wore rags for clothes. She seemed poor, and this was her only source of income.

Dazai didn't feel any sort of pity, but he still pulled out some cash.

"Here you go, miss."

"Oh, thank you so much, dear!" She was impressed by the 10 he had given her. It was all he had in him, but I guess she didn't need to know that. Oda is probably proud of him. "Take as many apples as you please!" She sang, but Dazai only spotted one apple he liked.

It was a bright green one. A non-ripe one, unlike all the others. It was a bad one.

"Just this one, is fine. Thank you. Have a nice day." He said, taking the apple and leaving. He walked too fast for the woman to speak or to even hear her words.

He bit into it, stuffing his other hand in his pocket as his shoes continued clicking along the sidewalk. The sun was currently setting, so the sky was turning orange and a purple hue was slowly stretching itself across the sky.

The apple tasted absolutely disgusting. Predictable, he didn't even pick a good one, but whatever. It's the healthy way anyway, right? It's what he's supposed to eat for his body. Candy, well— can-die. Can make him die.....

...maybe he should've got some candy after all...

ring, ring! ring, ring!

Dazai ignored his phone for the next few minutes, letting it ring as he ate the apple. The phone eventually stopped ringing until it started once again.

ring, ring! ring, ring!

Dazai sighed, and pulled his phone out.

ring, ring! Slug is calling, slug is calling, ring, ring!

"Mhm..." He said, setting his phone in his lap as he watched the screen go black when the ringing stopped.
