[Skeppy's pov]

I was minding my business, tending to my small farm of potatoes and beetroot. I'm the village farmer, so a lot of people rely on me for food. I'm very happy with myself and my friends. I was almost finished for the day when I heard a bell go off.

Oh no.

I know what that means. A raid is coming. Everyone is panicking, screaming, and running in to any house available. I run to the nearest one, and they don't let me in. The next, no luck, another, locked out. Why won't they let me in? I thought we were friends? No one will open their doors, and I can hear them coming. With no other option, I find myself running into the forest and hiding behind the trees. 'Maybe I should go deeper into the forest' I thought to myself, but decided not to since I don't know my way around.

I sat there, covering my mouth to quiet my heavy breathing, when I heard them arrive at the village . They were all yelling over eachother and I had no idea what they were saying.

Then, chaos.

I heard the sounds of animals dying. Blocks breaking. Crops being destroyed. I could hear metallic thuds as the iron golem attempted to fight them off, to no avail.

"Check the houses!" One of them, who seemed to be the leader, yelled at the others. From there the chaos was worse. Instead of animals and golems dying, I heard people dying. Screaming. Begging.
I was so scared. I didn't want to be next. I didn't want to survive and go back to see the corpses of my 'friends'.

I just sat there, crying, for another few minutes before I heard the same voice from before. "Halo! Make yourself useful and go check the forest. I wouldn't be surprised if one of these morons tried to hide there."

No.. no no no no no! He's gonna find me! He'll kill me! I'll make noise if I move, but if I stay put, then he's sure to find me! I didn't know what to do. I just sat there, frozen in fear, when I heard footsteps behind me.

[Bad's pov]

I began walking into the forest, as my commander requested. As I was looking, I couldn't help but to let my mind wander.

'Why are we doing this?'

'Why do we have to kill people?''

'Why can't we know their so-called greater plan?'

'This isn't fair. I don't want to hurt anyone. I can't bring myself to kill'

'This is stupid! You know what, the next person I find, I'll-!'

My thoughts were interrupted when I found a villager, sitting behind a tree, shaking. For a second, I just stood there, making eye contact with him.  He was.. cute. I know I was supposed to kill him. But I couldn't.

Just then, I heard a noise from behind me. It was footsteps. "Halo! Where are you?! Why are you taking so long?!" My commander yelled out.

Crap.

If they found me and him, they'd kill him in cold blood. Dead within seconds. I quickly grabbed his hand, pulling him up. He gasped, and I began running, dragging him by his wrist. I pulled him out of the forest, back to the village. We had to get on a ravager. That was my only chance to get us out of here. Unfortunately for me, on our way out, we ran into the other pillagers.

"Hey! Where do you think you're going?!" One of them yelled, and they began pursuing us. I just kept running, dragging the scared and confused villager with me. We were about halfway across the village when they started shooting. Me and the farmer tried our best to avoid them, but they ended up hitting the man I was dragging in the arm.

We made it to the ravagers and I threw him onto one's back. I was just about to get on myself when I heard footsteps rapidly approaching. It was my commander, running at me with a sword. I ducked, and quickly pulled out my axe. I jumped up and swung at him, hitting him. He stumbled back, before quickly jumping forward again to hit me. I quickly blocked him with my axe. The fight was on.

We swung at each other, periodically landing hits. The rest of the team just stood back, seemingly scared to get involved. I managed to knock the sword out of his hands, and wasted no time putting my axe between his eyes.

He fell to the ground, dead.

Oh my god. I just killed someone. For the first time. That was.. horrible. This is what I was supposed to be doing to hundreds of innocent  villagers? I felt sick to my stomach.

There was no time to stall. Before the other pillagers recovered from the shock of seeing their boss murdered, I jumped on the ravager with the farmer and set off.

As the ravager quickly trotted away, the village shrinking behind us, the man behind me spoke up. "Who.. who are you?" "You can call me Bad." I responded. "What about you?" "Oh! Uh, my name's skeppy."

Skeppy huh? That's a cute name..

"Well, nice to meet you skeppy." I responded. "Why did you save me?" He asked "I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm grateful, but, why..?" I paused for a moment, thinking of a response. I decided to tell him the full story of that day from my perspective. "Well, you see..."

[skeppy pov]

Me and bad have been traveling on the ravager for about a day now. And in that time, he's really grown on me. I've learned so much about him, pillagers, raids, and just the world in general. Usually I wouldn't just blindly go with a man I just met, but what other option do I have right now? Everyone from my village is dead, I don't know my way around anywhere, and I couldn't bare living completely isolated and alone.

He said that he was taking me to a new place to live. It's another village, but it's much larger than mine. He said there were a few other villagers and pillagers living there, but it was mostly populated by players. I was confused as to who the 'players' were at first, but he explained that they're those people who come to villages to trade with us and steal stuff out of the chests in our houses.

I'm nervous to live somewhere else. But maybe it'll be a nice fresh start for me.

Bonus: (still skep's pov)

Me and my husband were tending to our garden when we heard commotion. We looked around, and saw a group of pillagers had arrived in our town. We both just looked at each other, concerned. Suddenly, we heard players opening their doors and charging at them. Bad just looked at the scene, dumbstruck. I just chuckled. "Maybe you pillagers aren't as dangerous as you make yourselves out to be." He sighed, "maybe you're right."
