Tom and Yulia were settling into their home for the night, when they heard a strange shuffling coming from the living room.
"What the hell is that?" Tom muttered, grabbing a nearby lamp as a makeshift weapon.
Yulia rolled her eyes. "It's just a ghast, Tom. A soul beast that's naturally drawn to ghouls."
Tom frowned. "You could've mentioned that earlier. I thought we were dealing with a regular ghoul."
As they approached the living room, the source of the shuffling became clear. A small, ethereal creature was hovering near the window, its ghostly form flickering in the dim light.
"How do we get rid of it?" Tom asked, brandishing his lamp.
Yulia chuckled. "You don't. They're harmless. Just ignore it and it'll eventually leave."
Tom was skeptical, but he lowered his weapon and sat down on the couch. The ghast floated near them for a few minutes, before eventually disappearing out the window.
"See?" Yulia said with a smile. "Nothing to worry about."
Tom sighed, rubbing his forehead. "Man, I feel like I've stumbled into a completely different world since I met you."
Yulia chuckled. "Welcome to my world, Tom. It's never boring, that's for sure."
Tom and Yulia settled down in front of the TV, ready to relax and watch some much-needed mindless entertainment. But as the opening credits for a ghost-hunting show started to roll, Yulia couldn't help but point out all the inaccuracies in the program.
"That's wrong, that's wrong, and that's just ridiculous," Yulia muttered under her breath as she pointed at the screen.
Tom sighed and munched on his popcorn, not really paying attention to the show. He was just glad to have a moment of peace after the chaos of the past few days. But that peace was short-lived.
As they watched, random soul beasts started to pop in and out of the room, causing Yulia to jump up and pull out her quinque in defense. But Tom just kept eating his popcorn, completely unfazed by the ghostly apparitions.
"How can you be so calm?" Yulia asked, her voice raised in annoyance.
Tom shrugged, "I've seen stranger things in the past few days. Plus, it's just a show, right?"
Yulia rolled her eyes and settled back down on the couch, still on guard for any more uninvited guests. "I guess you're right. But still, it's frustrating to see all these inaccuracies being spread on TV."
As they continued to watch, the random soul beasts continued to pop in and out of the room, but Tom and Yulia were both too jaded to even flinch anymore. They just enjoyed their ghost-hunting show and their snacks in peace.
Feeling pressed, Tom shuffled his way to the bathroom, rubbing his eyes and letting out a yawn. He had been up late watching TV with Yulia, and he was exhausted. As he approached the bathroom, he heard a strange noise coming from inside. It was like a low whisper, almost like a conversation. But Tom was the only one in the house.
He cautiously opened the bathroom door and was greeted by the sight of a small, transparent ghost hovering in front of the toilet. Tom's eyes widened in shock as he took a step back, nearly tripping over his own feet. The ghost turned to him and let out a series of unintelligible gibberish.
Tom was about to turn and run when he remembered what Yulia had told him earlier about soul beasts. They were harmless, and they were naturally drawn to ghouls. Tom let out a sigh of relief as he realized he had nothing to worry about.
The ghost kept badgering him, though, asking where its legs were and why it was so cold. Tom was getting more and more annoyed by the second, but he tried to stay calm. He walked over to the toilet, sat down, and started to do his business. The ghost continued to talk, but Tom just ignored it, focusing on the task at hand.
As Tom finished up, he remembered that he wanted to make more popcorn. He stood up and started to leave the bathroom, but the ghost blocked his way. Tom sighed, not wanting to deal with the ghost any longer. He tried to brush it aside, but the ghost wouldn't budge.
Finally, Tom let out a loud sigh and said, "Look, I'm trying to go make some popcorn, okay? Can you just let me through?" The ghost let out a screech and disappeared, leaving Tom to shake his head in disbelief. He walked back to the living room, wondering if he had just imagined the whole thing.
He started to make the popcorn, humming to himself as he did so. He couldn't believe how strange his life had become in such a short amount of time. But, he was grateful for Yulia and all that she had taught him.
Tom and Yulia were sitting on the couch, munching on their popcorn when Yulia suddenly remembered something she had forgotten to tell Tom. "Tom, if you ever come across a soul beast that can talk, you need to run. Those are the most dangerous ones."
Tom shuddered at the thought. "Actually, I just encountered one in the toilet. It was asking me where its legs were."
Yulia's eyes widened in alarm. "What? That's a Teke-Teke! Those are extremely dangerous!"
Tom and Yulia quickly sprang into action, grabbing anything they could use as a weapon. They cautiously approached the bathroom, but as soon as they opened the door, the lights went out.
"Where is it?" whispered Tom, his heart pounding in his chest.
"I don't know, but it's close," replied Yulia, her voice shaking.
Suddenly, they heard a ghostly wail that seemed to be coming from the toilet. Yulia and Tom ran out of the bathroom, but the Teke-Teke was hot on their heels. They stumbled and tripped over furniture, trying to make their escape.
"Quick, the toilet! Flush it down!" yelled Yulia.
Tom and Yulia frantically tried to reach the toilet, but the teke-teke was getting closer and closer. Just as they were about to be caught, Tom managed to reach the toilet and flush it, sending the Teke-Teke spiraling down into the pipes.
Tom and Yulia collapsed onto the floor, panting and giggling from the adrenaline rush. "That was close," said Tom, still trying to catch his breath.
"Too close," replied Yulia, still laughing. "But at least we got rid of that pesky Teke-Teke."
Tom and Yulia sat down on the couch, exhausted from their run-in with the teke teke. Tom took a deep breath and turned to Yulia. "What on earth was that thing?" he asked.
Yulia nervously looked around the room as if she was expecting something to jump out at any moment. "That was a teke teke," she said, "one of the less dangerous soul beasts."
Tom's eyes grew wide. "Less dangerous? What do you mean?"
Yulia sighed. "There are more dangerous soul beasts out there, Tom. Some can possess humans, some can drain the life out of you, and others can even manipulate reality."
Tom shivered at the thought. "So, are there more of these things around here?"
Yulia nodded. "Soul beasts are naturally drawn to ghouls like me. They're always lurking around, waiting for an opportunity to get close."
Tom's eyes darted around the room as he tried to see if anything was hiding in the shadows. Suddenly, he noticed a pair of glowing eyes peeking out from behind the curtains. He jumped up, pointing at the window. "What's that?" he cried.
Yulia looked over and saw the eyes too. "Don't worry, it's probably just a harmless will-o'-the-wisp," she said.
But as she said that, the eyes multiplied, revealing an army of creatures lurking in the shadows. Tom and Yulia's eyes grew wide as they saw all sorts of creatures peeking out from all over the apartment.
"I-I thought you said there were no dangerous soul beasts here!" Tom stammered.
Yulia swallowed hard. "I may have spoken too soon," she admitted.
