As Tom and Erdwin walked down the sidewalk, the topic of conversation quickly shifted to soul sorcery. Erdwin was surprised to learn that Mr. Black had never fully explained the mechanics of soul sorcery to Tom. "Really? I thought he would have explained everything by now," Erdwin said, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
Tom simply shrugged and replied, "Well, I've been busy with other things and Mr. Black is always occupied with work, so I guess it just never came up."
Erdwin couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Tom, you can't be serious. Soul sorcery is the most important aspect of our job. How can you be a soul beast hunter without knowing the basics of it?"
Tom merely shrugged again and said, "I've just been going with the flow, I guess."
Erdwin sighed, "Alright then, let me explain it to you. There are two main types of soul sorcery: soul beast summoning sorcery and individualistic soul sorcery. The former is what we use to summon and control our soul beasts. It involves using talismans and incantations to summon and control the soul beasts within them."
As they spoke, they found a cozy little cafe and decided to take a seat and continue their conversation. Erdwin ordered them each a coffee and continued his explanation, "Individualistic soul sorcery, on the other hand, is unique to each individual. It's like a manifestation of one's soul and personality. It can range from controlling elements like fire or wind, to even manipulating time and space."
Tom listened intently, his eyes wide with wonder as he took in all the information. "That's amazing, Erdwin," he said, "I had no idea there was so much to soul sorcery."
Erdwin nodded, "Yes, it's a complex and powerful magic. But what's important to remember is that everyone's individualistic soul sorcery is unique to them, and it can take years of training and practice to fully master it. But, with patience and persistence, anyone can become a powerful soul sorcerer."
As Tom sipped his coffee, he couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the information overload. "Wait, what do you mean I can summon demons without a medium? And I can summon purple lightning like Yulia? How is that even possible?" Tom exclaimed, his eyes wide with confusion.
Erdwin chuckled and patted Tom on the back. "That's the thing about your soul sorcery, Tom. It's unique. The fact that you're possessed by a ghoul means you have powers that no one else has. It's what makes you special."
Tom looked down at his cup of coffee, feeling more and more bewildered by the minute. "But, how am I supposed to figure out which one is my soul sorcery? I don't even know where to start."
Erdwin took a sip of his tea, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Well, I think you should start by trying out different things. Maybe you can try summoning a demon or channeling your purple lightning. You never know what might happen until you try."
Tom looked at Erdwin skeptically. "Are you sure that's a good idea? I don't want to accidentally summon a demon in the middle of a crowded café."
Erdwin burst out laughing, attracting the attention of several customers. "Don't worry, Tom. I'm sure you'll figure it out. And if you ever need help, I'm here for you."
Just then, Tom's cat soul beast jumped up onto the table, its tail twitching back and forth. "Ha! Don't listen to him, Tom. He just wants to see you make a fool of yourself," the cat soul beast said with a smirk.
Tom sighed and rubbed his temples. "Great, just what I needed. Another voice in my head."
Erdwin chuckled and finished his tea. "Come on, let's go. I have a feeling we're going to be busy today."
As they continued to sit at the cafe sipping on their hot drinks, Tom couldn't help but remember the ghoul they had faced off against. He turned to Erdwin and asked, "Hey, I just remembered. Who was that ghoul we were fighting? He seemed way stronger than the others."
Erdwin took a deep breath before answering, "His name was Adedibu. He was a notorious ghoul that had caused a lot of trouble in the past. Even for our division, he was way out of our league. It's lucky for us that you got possessed, otherwise, we would've been in big trouble."
Tom couldn't help but feel a wave of fear wash over him as he heard the name of the ghoul. It was then that he realized the gravity of the situation they had been in. "Wow, I had no idea. So, what's the deal with Mr. Black investigating? What's going on?" he asked.
Erdwin leaned back in his chair and replied, "Well, it's unusual for HQ to assign us to missions that we're not prepared for. Mr. Black is trying to figure out why they would put us in such a dangerous situation. We're lucky to have come out of it alive."
Tom and Erdwin's conversation was interrupted by a loud screech from the road. Tom's cat soul beast, who had been listening intently, had suddenly run out onto the road to pounce on a mouse soul beast that was darting about.
Just as the cat soul beast was about to make her move, a truck was fast approaching, and Tom's heart raced as he screamed for her to move out of the way. But before he could even make a move, a figure had jumped out onto the road and pushed the cat to safety just as the truck sped past.
Tom, who was still in shock, ran over to the mystery girl and asked if she was okay. He was relieved to see that she was unscathed, but he couldn't help but scold his cat soul beast for being so reckless.
The girl just laughed and brushed herself off, saying, "It's alright, I've got quick reflexes. And I guess you owe me a coffee now."
Tom, still in a state of shock, stared at the girl as she walked away.
