Tom stood under the bus stop shelter, looking into the pouring rain. He was waiting for someone. Someone who had saved his cat soul beast a few weeks ago. He remembered the day clearly, how she had jumped onto the road to save his pet, risking her safety. And as he promised her then, he was taking her on a date.
He tried to remember her name, but it escaped him. It had been a while since they had last seen each other, and he had been so caught up with work and training that he couldn't focus on anything else. Erdwin had warned him to keep an eye on her, since she could see soul beasts, something that was impossible for a regular human.
Suddenly, Tom heard a voice calling out to him, "Tom! Hey, over here!" He turned around to see her, the girl who had saved his cat soul beast. She was dressed in a cute yellow raincoat and was holding an umbrella.
Tom smiled as he approached her, "Hi! I'm glad you could make it."
"Of course, I wouldn't miss this for anything," she said, smiling back at him. "I've been looking forward to this for a while."
Tom felt his heart skip a beat as he looked into her eyes. "I'm sorry, I don't remember your name," he said, feeling embarrassed.
"It's okay, it's Lily," she said, still smiling. "Let's go get some coffee, I'm freezing!"
Tom offered her his arm and they walked down the street together, chatting and getting to know each other. As they walked, Tom couldn't help but think that maybe this was the start of something special.
As Tom sat across from Lily, he couldn't help but feel a flutter in his chest. He had been nervous all week leading up to this date, unsure of what to expect. The small cafe where they first met was the perfect setting for a romantic evening, the soft light illuminating their faces as they talked and laughed.
Tom's cat soul beast sat next to him, lazily grooming its fur as if it had not a care in the world. Suddenly, Tom remembered that he had to apologize to Lily for putting her in danger the day she saved his soul beast.
"Soul beast, you need to apologize to Lily," Tom scolded, pointing to the cat.
The soul beast simply looked up at Tom with a bored expression, then went back to grooming itself.
Tom was getting angry now. "Soul beast, come on, this is important! You put Lily in danger and she deserves an apology."
The soul beast let out a loud meow, then went back to ignoring Tom.
Lily chuckled, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "It's okay, Tom. Really. I'm not upset."
Tom let out a sigh of relief, grateful for Lily's understanding. He was thankful to have her by his side, and he couldn't imagine his life without her. As they continued their date, Tom made a mental note to keep a closer eye on his soul beast in the future, so as nAs they finished their coffee, Lily turned to Tom with a mischievous smile on her face. "Hey Tom, does your cat soul beast have a name?"
Tom rubbed the back of his head, "Uh, no, not really. I never really thought to name her."
The cat soul beast, who was lazily lounging on the counter, let out a disdainful meow and smacked Tom over the head with her paw.
Lily giggled at the sight, "Well, I think she deserves a name. How about Mittens?"
Tom raised an eyebrow, "Mittens? Really?"
"Yeah, why not?" Lily said as she rubbed Mittens' head affectionately. "She's cute like a little ball of fur."
Tom chuckled, "I guess Mittens is a good name for her."
As they walked out of the café, Tom realized that the rain had started to come down harder. He looked down at Lily and noticed her hair was getting wet. He quickly took off his jacket and held it over her head, trying to protect her from the rain.
Lily smiled up at him, "Thank you, Tom."
Before Tom could react, Lily leaned in and gave him a kiss in the rain. Tom's eyes widened as he felt her lips on his. When she pulled away, he felt his heart pounding in his chest.
"Let's go home," Lily said, taking Tom's hand and leading him down the street.
