[Setias's POV]

'This kid.. God I could just-.. No, I can't do that' I groan in frustration as the kid continues to be unruly and disobedient, I picked the kid up and sat her on the corner of the room
"Aight kid, As your punishment, You are now in timeout for 15-20 minutes," I sat infront of them, "and I'm going to make sure you don't try to leave that corner, 'kay?" They huffed and crossed their arms at me
"Anyways, Would you like to eat something?, I could get you something from the kitchen" I spoke in a friendly matter, Well if you know children, They're gonna refuse your offers if they're mad at you no matter how friendly you try to seem, so of course they declined.
"You sure? Alright then" They turned their back at me and I just sat there looking at them.
"..Can I get a cupcake?" They quietly mumbled, "Where did your parents store them?" I asked softly, "We don't have, But can we go buy some?" Their parents didn't leave any money for the kid but I had a couple of dollars with me so it wouldn't hurt to buy them some cupcakes

(After a trip to buy cupcakes)

"Thanks!" The kid thanked me with a bright smile when I handed them their cupcake, "you're welcome" I smiled at the kid's happy face while they were eating and I noticed a bruise on the corner of the kid's mouth that looked like it was covered with makeup to hide it, My brows stitched together in suspicion, And what was more suspicious was the kid would wear sweaters only
"Hey uh kid.. Why do you have a bruise there?" I pointed at the bruise, She tensed upon realising what I was talking about, "It's- uh.. I-I got in a fight a few days ago, In school" she put her cupcake down and slightly stammered while talking, I didn't buy it, The bruise looked new and I'm not a fan of children getting hurt. Sure, I sometimes think of it but I can't bring myself to do it.
"I don't think that's from a fight and wouldn't your parents notice it?" I spoke softly at her
"...", she looked like she was about to cry until she covered her face with her sleeve and sat with her legs to her chest.
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, Sorry" I apologized, The kid shook their head. 'I'm terrible at this' I pat the kid's back in a comforting way and they started shaking, I immediately took my hand off her back.
I started to panic, 'I did something wrong, I shouldn't of patted her back, Shit shit shit shit shit-'
I noticed she was staring at me and her eyes were puffy, I immediately got up and ran to the kitchen to get a glass of water, When I came back she was staring at the floor and wrapped her arms around herself, I kneeled down and gave her the glass of water

[Time skip]

"Take it and leave" the lady basically shoved a couple of bucks into my hands and rudely spat, The kid turned their head to me and nodded for me to go, I thanked them even if they acted bitchy towards me.

I walked out of the crappy apartment and heard a loud glass break along with a few shards of glass falling, I immediately ran back and on the way up, I heard the kid, She was crying and loud thuds of running came closer and closer, I stood there until I saw a figure running down.. It was the kid, she fell over and fell on me sending us both tumbling down the stairs, I wrapped my arms around the kid in a effort to protect her.

After falling down a long flight of stairs, I received a few minor injuries like a few bruises and back pain, Thankfully no broken bones. I unwrapped my arms and my tail off the kid to check for injuries, My eyes widened once my clothes and fur was covered in a crimson red liquid, The kid was bleeding out.
'Now's not the time to panic'  I picked the kid up and ran out the apartment again and ran to the nearest route back to my apartment, Before you ask, Why not go to the hospital or call 911? I'm a literally 5'10ft and I'm a mutant, a black cat mutant, And I they'd probably think I hurt the kid.

I sat the kid down and saw that they were covered in glass shards which was the reason she was bleeding, I carefully took them out while patching up the ones I already took the glass out of, And yes, I did disinfect them before patching it up.

[Kid's POV]

I woke up on a bed, I don't remember anything other than running from my mother after she found out my babysitter bought me cupcakes, They probably thought I took their money and used it to buy it

I tried to sit up, I had multiple bandage wrapped around my arms and legs, They hurt a bit but not that much, I noticed that the room I was in wasn't mine, I got up and that pins and needles feeling attacked me leg and I immediately fell back down and I yelped.

I heard footsteps towards the door, I was filled with fear, Until I noticed the footsteps weren't my parents', The door creaked open and rushed in was.. My babysitter? They looked concerned and started asking me if something happened to me, I tilted my head in confusion, 'they're concerned..? They're genuinely concerned?' Their eyes met mine, I only noticed it now that their eyes were kind of creepy, But I couldn't really choose who could take care of me now can't I?, Plus, They're caring for me, I gotta be thankful.
"Are you okay?! Do your wounds hurt? Do you feel sick?? Is there something wrong?" they asked.
"I'm fine.." I muttered quietly, They sighed of relief and smiled, "oh and um.. I'm setias, Incase I forgot to tell you, It would be weird if you didn't know the name of the pers- creature that took care of you", " I'm Kami, Just kami" they were a bit shocked but just kept quiet.. Maybe this wouldn't be bad.. Unless my parents find me..
