Chishiya had gone straight up to the roof, a light nag in the back of his head for not snatching that card. It would only serve you better to get it to Hatter and make sure you become an executive. The two of Spades was a missing card, but he knew how you got under people's skin.
An egomaniac like the number one of the Beach would be easy to manipulate, and you would be an executive with the next good card you brought, if not before that. He sighed and buried his hands in his pockets, but he found something in there.
A big smirk played on his face as he raised the card, looking at the two of Spades in his grasp like it was gold in the light of the sunrise. He would bring something to Hatter, and more importantly, he had squirmed his way into your walls, and with a little caution, you would be willing to help him no matter what.
You opened your arms and shot up, instantly regretting it as a sharp pain shot through you from your abdomen. "You were out for two hours," Ann spoke, placing the scalpel she was holding down. "And you just tore through your stitches, I have to do them again."
You ignored her as you looked in front of you, eyes focused on the three dead people laying on surgical tables. "Don't look at them, it's just--"
"Cadavers!" You laughed, cutting her off, and jumped off the bed, going straight to the bodies and admiring the ways they died. "I didn't know we had these!" You giggled like a kid, looking at the dead people and nearly shaking with joy despite the blood stain spreading on your bandages. "Can I have one? What are you doing with them?!"
Ann huffed, but she wasn't angry or annoyed. You could see the small smile on her face, similar to the one the blond man would always wear. "Let me do those stitches first."
"I can do them on my own later, I bet this is way more interesting--"
"One is all yours if you let me." You were back on the table in record time, feet swinging as Ann took the bandages off and started to work on the stitches again.
"Do I get to pick?" You smiled, and she just shrugged in response. You had a feeling from now on you would be spending a lot of time here, and become fast friends with Ann.
"Hatter wants to see you. He's really taken a liking to you..."
"I'm likable, I guess." You looked up at her, and no words were needed for you to communicate. You had answered her real question, and she scoffed at your response.
"You are climbing up the ranks very quickly, he will ask us if we agree on you becoming an executive in no time." She finished up with the stitches and let you put your own bandage on. "Were you a doctor before?"
You nodded, jumping off the bed and taking a scalpel in your hand once again. "Med student, I couldn't really decide between cardio and neuro. You, police department?"
The corners of her mouth quirked up and she grabbed the other scalpel, slicing clean across the scalp of a male. "I'm looking for chips."
"Brain chips?! That's a thing? You may just throw me into neuro, Ann." You laughed, mirroring her movements, and started searching the brain. Chishiya would love it if I didn't choose the same specialty as him, that fancy cardio guy.
You both worked in silence, and you continued with your guy as Ann moved on to search the brain of the third man. You never got to do your solo appendectomy, and it's not like this man would miss his appendix.
A knock on the door distracted you both, and Niragi peeked his head inside, sneering at the sight. "Great, another dissection freak. Hatter really does have a type." He shut the door, harder than he needed to and waltzed away.
"...I want to play a Heart's game with him." It was like in the short time you and Ann spent together, your own little dialect had developed. The woman resembled a better version of Chishiya and caught everything you did right away. Maybe it was a diamond player's thing.
You left the lab and walked up to the meeting room to find everyone but Hatter already there. It didn't go unnoticed how Chishiya slightly straightened his spine when he saw you, but the number one walked inside before you could talk to him.
"We need a new rule. It hasn't been made clear to everyone that keeping their cards isn't an option." Hatter clicked his tongue and threw three bloodied cards on the table, his torso also covered in the crimson liquid.
Maybe this was a test to see how you would react, but you doubted it. He looked deranged, like that last little bit of sanity he had faded away, and now the tyrant of the Beach would do anything to gather a full deck of hearts.
You had a feeling the game masters would never allow that, the Ten of Hearts would probably ensure his death and ruin the Beach. But, instead, you raised your hand and spoke.
"I know I'm not an executive yet, but I have an idea." You almost mirrored Mira's crazy smile as you spoke and looked up at him. "A new rule in the Beach; Anyone that doesn't give up their cards will be killed."
The silence was deadly, and Hatter was ready to laugh when Kuzuryu interrupted. "It will cause an uproar and people will start leaving the Beach."
"You are underestimating Hatter, they all believe in him too much to just leave. I think Nezumi's plan is great."
"He's right, sooner or later they would all leave." You shrugged and leaned on the table. "So we sugarcoat it for them. All traitors to the Beach will be eliminated. That way, the ultimatum isn't obvious, and leaving this place also isn't an option."
Still, Kuzuryu didn't look convinced at all, so you continued. Unlike Mira, who seemed to support every single thing you said, you had a feeling he would go out of his way to go against you.
"It will also turn them against each other; It's only human nature to hate and be violent, singling people that don't obey out and marking it as an offense to the whole community could even make them snitch on each other."
"Brilliant." Hatter laughed, squeezing your shoulders. "You are brilliant! You will be number 6 from now on, for helping the Beach so much!" He left the room laughing, and everyone slowly dispersed.
Ann left too, but not before giving you a knowing glance, and you followed after Chsihiya. "Hey, number five, won't you congratulate me?" Your hand rested on his shoulder as you walked. "Or at least thank me for letting you give the card?"
"Have I ever thanked you?"
"Now, that you mention it, you owe 'thank you's."
"Wait for them, I'm sure they will come eventually." He sighed and shrugged your hand off, heading to his room. "You are playing tonight." It sounded more like a command than a question, but you nodded anyway before turning to go down to the pool area.
A/N: I'm so unlucky, Im rewatching aib rn and the two of spades is one of the two spades missing, so let's just say it wasn't a duplicate I will fix it later.
