"Shuntaro Chishiya. Do I need to file a restraining order?" You scoffed as he scooted next to you, barely fitting in the car with Aguni taking up the space for two people in the backseat.
"Shuntaro Chishiya, do I need to file a restraining order or something? Why are you always stuck to me like a tick?" You frowned, snatching the files all to yourself. "Go find another case."
"Take it up with the resident, he told me to come here." He bumped you and took the extra set of files, relishing in the way your face contorted in annoyance.
"...Aya Takashi, a 67-year-old female that had a bypass last year. She fainted and fell down a flight of stairs, came in with a light concussion and a hip fracture." You stopped right in front of her room, shoulders slumping as you looked at him.
"It's clearly cardio! You hate cardio, just go take a nap or something--"
"Hello miss Takashi." He opened the door, ignoring you and putting a polite smile on as he greeted the older woman that instantly smiled at the both of you. "Did you feel anything unusual in the morning or sometime before you fell? Perhaps low blood pres--"
You cut him off and moved right in front of him. "How is your grandson? Last time you were here he was having trouble with his girlfriend."
"Oh, you are such a sweet girl! They are married now, and she's three months pregnant. let me show you." She sat up quickly and grabbed her phone, taking some time before she managed to open her photo album and proudly show the couple.
"Oh, I envy them, they look like such a perfect couple." You laughed, satisfied that the woman felt more comfortable now. "Now, do you feel any pain? Maybe dizziness?"
"Oh, no, no, I'm totally fine." She smiled, hand going up to her chest as she looked up at the two of you.
"That was about it, miss Takashi, thank you." You both slightly bowed and exited the room. Knowing what he was going to say already once you turned the corner, you took the initiative to run straight to the resident.
"She had chest pain, and she also struggled to look at her phone. Last time she kept on bragging about her eyes being better than a hawk's, so I think she has a high BP that has clogged her arteries again and has damaged the retina of her eyes. She needs another surgery."
You spoke right away, as fast as you could to not give him chance to butt in. "Good work, Sato, you are scrubbing in. Chishiya, stitches are waiting for you, a bunch of middle schoolers had an accident."
You could swear you saw his eyes twitch in annoyance as the resident walked away. "You could be misdiagnosing her. She's an old woman, it's only logical for her to have bad vision."
"Have fun with your stitches, I might bring you lunch since you will be so busy with a bunch of worried parents." You smiled, sickly sweet as you faced him.
"It's fine, I don't think you can afford it." He bit back with his exaggerated smile and walked off, leaving you there with a furious grin equal to a psychopath's.
"...I still have my bypass." You shrugged, kissing the files happily.
You avoided touching the man too much, leaning on Chishiya despite knowing he wasn't too comfortable with physical touch and certainly didn't like it. He didn't show it at all, he just put his earphones in and ignored it.
You snatched one, continuing the ride sandwiched between the two men who took every chance to push you away. Being in between two hotties had never let you down before, but there was the first time for everything.
One thing never changed; you got out of the situation with shaky legs and a fuzzy head.
"I miss Hearts." You sighed, looking at the 3 of Clubs on the screen. "Imagine playing Hearts with Mira, she would be really good..."
You knew how to push each and every single button of his, and you were going for it. You wished it were a team game where he would have to cooperate with you despite all your comments. It would make him crack and clear everything up about yesterday.
"You would get yourself killed, there is a reason she's number four."
"It's like saying Kuzuryu would kill you just because he's number two, that's stupid." You glanced at the blond to see the small quirk up on his lips. "He would kill you because he's smarter."
You shrugged, and the phones chimed at the perfect time to make sure there was no retaliation. The game was rather simple, and you all worked through it together with no problems and no deaths at all.
This time, Aguni snatched the card before you or Chishiya could even think about it. You didn't bother; it was a low-ranking duplicate of the type most players specialized in, but the way the blond male had tried to help you in doing your part was bugging you in the back of the head.
Of course, it only cost him time and he ended up finishing his two minutes later, which was still way faster than the others but way behind you. He must have been annoyed by that, but you could detect no signs of it.
You got back in the car, only to have him offer you one of his earphones this time. That was more than enough to make you crack and get out of the vehicle, clumsily jumping over the mountain of a man that could probably snap you like a twig if he wanted, and announced you would be walking back.
Luckily, the arena was pretty close this time, and thanks to the Beach's blinding lights you didn't get lost at all. You went straight for the booze the moment you got there, downing shot after shot. It wasn't long after that the hair on the back of your neck stood up, and you looked over to the huge building, unsurprisingly spotting a pair of eyes on you already.
Grabbing the half-empty bottle of tequila you started your, painfully long, way up to the rooftop to talk to the man. You were drunk enough to take it now, but this time you would remember it when you woke up. He wouldn't know that.
