COLD WIND flowed through the train as the doors and windows were ripped open due to Simmon's path of destruction. Flashes of the city passed by, dots of colors and light. They were out of the tunnels now.
"How about I reunite you with your sister, Agent Harper?" Simmons said in a scratchy, gritty tone.
"Don't listen to him!" Seraphina glanced at Helena, who continued to fire her gun, but even she could see her trembling a bit. Anything that reminded her of Deborah crushed Helena, it was obvious.
His larger, mutated form hopped and ran on the residing subway track. The speed of which he kept up with was horrifying to see, seeing how his enlarged limbs and legs were on all fours and how inhuman it looked like.
"Surely you're more capable than this, Leon." Simmons shouted mockingly, which prompted Leon to bring out a shotgun. The loud, ear shattering sound of it reverberated through the train car, his shots getting faster than the last.
"Nowhere to run now!"
Simmons hopped inside, the monster form became even bigger, molding into a unit of flesh, tissue and blood. Seraphina felt sick to her stomach, looking at one of the spindly necks sticking out, which had a resemblance to his human face, but was now a bloodier version of it.
"I hate guys like you!" Seraphina screamed out of fear, grabbing a pocket knife from her back pocket. She hardly used it so far, but this was the time to do so—sliding the sharp knife into the veiny, skinny neck. Simmons roared in agony, letting the three of them escape to the roof of the train.
He rolled out of the train, his monster body giant enough to deflect against an oncoming train coming from the other direction. The subway train derailed as they collided, falling into great depths as it lost all control.
"This is the end of the line!"
Simmons stopped in front of the train.
Leon held his gun, squinted for a moment, and shot.
Barely missing by a breadth of a hair, the bullet lodged itself into the monster's skin. Simmons was knocked back by sudden force, yelping before another train coming from the other way plummeted into him. It threw his body back, reverting back to human form.
Simmons clambered around, struggling to get balanced enough to stand. He clamored on his feet before facing them, bloody patches visible on his cracking pieces of skin.
"You...have no idea...what would happen if I die!"
Wet, slimy flesh bursted through his skin. Simmons had no desire to give up, turning into his monster form again. The new appearance was horrendous to look at, his body no longer recognizable. His preserved face was kept from outer harm, covered in long claws. This form was four times as bigger than the last, towering over them.
"The world would be a better place!" Leon shouted, his hand on the gun was becoming unstable. Had the truth earlier got to him? Seraphina could see how much he was taking just to fight. You could take so much before you crack...
