THE UNDERGROUND of the cathedral appeared to stretch so far, like it was miles wide and never ended. A whole dungeon practically built under. A bronze plate built onto the wall read:

"Toll the five bells loud and clear, and thus the true path shall appear."

"So now we have to stop and solve a riddle, great." Leon mumbled, although the difficulty of the puzzle wasn't high. Five bells...just like the ones above the cathedral. He pointed his gun, shooting once at the bell high above, and it rang soundly.

Ding. Ding. Ding.

The sound reverberated through their bodies.

Helena and Seraphina followed. Five bells.

Ding.

Ding.

A loud mechanical sound erupted in the distance. Helena grabbed the now reachable statue, which was their last piece of the puzzle for the altar. Both Helena and Leon stuck the mini statues onto the respected stands, which in turn shifted the whole altar in front of the church.

In awe of seeing the whole altar move, the survivors peeked inside or tried to look at the open area. What came from the inside was a weird wet sound, along with some grunting and shrieking. Seraphina recognized the sound of the unnatural and heavy footsteps.

The monster displayed a set of bare teeth with a large head covering majority of its face, along with a bulbous belly that was covered in boils and holes. Seeing it gave her the creeps, but also a sense of dread as the danger of the unknown came crawling in.

"What...is that?" Helena muttered, shocked at the sight of a awful monster she's never seen before. One man got close to the tall monster, holding out his gun in fear. The zombie monster growled and came limping closer, it's belly weighing down the body.

"Don't shoot!" Seraphina shouted in warning.

Bang.

Too late.

Liquid from the zombie's blood spurted out, the black blood falling onto the man's face. The man screamed, trying to wipe off the blood. Even Seraphina could see that the blood had some sort of acidity, as steam was coming off of the man's face.

Other survivors screamed and scrambled, trying to run away from the large zombie. They tripped and tumbled all over each other, the man who initially shot the zombie fell over onto the ground. A woman held onto his shoulder, asking if he was okay.

Seeing it in real time had stunned Seraphina. The man's face was burnt down, the top layer of his skin exposed and showing tissue. He was no longer human, now fully infected. It terrified her on how fast and rapid the infection could be.

Chaos ensued, people continuing to run around inside the cathedral despite having no where to really escape. Inside had zombies. Outside had even more. Running around felt like running in a circle, there wasn't any end.
