The promise of hope

Reunion

The gladers stared at the mansion in front of them. They had been walking and running for 2 days, finally they had arrived at Marcus's house.

There where lights flashing and sound vibrating the walls. Cassy who gotten over stage of isolation stood next to Thena.

"Well... this looks promising" Minho said rolling his eyes. Cassy and Thena stayed silent and followed the gladers into the building avoiding the 'guards'.

As they entered the sound blasting in Athenas ears and she wished that newt would protect her.

Jorge began to walk off and said "follow me and stay quiet. Don't drink or touch or talk to anyone or anything!"

The gladers followed him trying desperately to look inconspicuous.

"Queeny?!" A sing song voice echoed in Athena's head as if newt was right next to her, she whipped her head around trying to spot the owner of the voice.

Athena continued walking until she ran into Cassy who was staring blankly to her left. Athena turned and saw... Thomas. He was standing about 3 meters away from them with Brenda and...NEWT right there.

Thomas was standing REALLY close to a girl...Brenda. Cassy watched to see what he would do, as if it was a test.

Cassy's eyes where glued on him...longing to be with him. Then Athena heard it...heard what Brenda was saying

"your friends...Cassy... that's all you are right...friends...there probably all dead...lets just stay here together... we'll be together. We cant find the right arm anyway... not without Marcus."

Brenda leaned up snaking her hands up and around his neck then kissed him. She continued to kiss him holding him in, Cassy's eyes opened wide and she gaped at Brenda as if she was going to rip out her throat.

Thomas pulled away almost instantly and said "your not her! You will never be her!" He looked around as if dizzy then collapsed so did Brenda. Cassy ran over to Thomas calling out to the other gladers then kicked Brenda aside making her land in a visibly uncomfortable position.

She then checked his pulse...it was steady. Athena felt a tap on her shoulder and she turned around to see newt he smiled weakly then passed out.

"Thomas" Cassy's voice sounding relieved before her expression turns back to an angry disappointed look

"i-im sorry cass , you know I didn't mean it" Thomas replies clearly regretting his actions, " I know it wasn't I don't blame you I never would." Cassy says placing a kiss on his forehead. Sensing Brenda there watching

" it wasn't his fault, it was me, and that weird drink they made us have as an 'entry ticket'...it...it made us have hallucinations" Brenda says obviously remembering the kiss... remembering enjoying it...wanting to kiss him again.

Brenda emery's the room cassy shooting up and glaringat Brenda, the hatred and jealousy between them clear and strong.

Cassy strides over to her then punches her in the face and whispers to her "I know you where high but you weren't drugged enough to hallucinate like Thomas." Then she turns away hitting Brenda in the face with her hair, as she sits back down she looks over at Thena who was stroking newts hair as he slept waiting patiently for him to awake.

"On second thought I do enjoy hurting you" Jorge says as he kicks the chair with Marcus on it to the ground in an effort to try and get answers out of him

"lizard boy" thena sighs in massive relief as newts eyes open slowly and search around eventually finding their way to look at thena, Athena twirls a bit of his hair as she leans down to kiss newt before he has had a chance to reply

"WHY THE SHUCK DID YOU LEAVE!" Thena yells at newt her emotions changing quickly newt sits up concerned and ready to apologise but thena wasn't done, her expression quickly changed back

"but I NEVER want to do that again, especially not without you... I love you newt-" thena confessed,

newt looked up from his lap, his expression changing from love to shock to happiness, the room goes silent "I love you so much, and I need you to know that if this ever happens again that I love you and I'll always be with you, I love you so much lizard boy"

thena looks at newt with a relieved but anxious expression on her face and he pulls her towards him for a kiss as everyone goes back to what they were doing before giving them a moment alone

" I love you Athena, so much-" newt pulls her in and kisses her again before continuing " and I never want to leave you again" newt stares into Thena's eyes, it was like they where galaxies away from all there problems, all the other people.

They stayed like that for minutes that felt like seconds, Thena wanted to stay like that forever.

Cassy, who had been sitting with Thomas her head leaning on his chest, ran over to newt and hugged him saying "thank god your awake" she smirked at thena then walked off back to Thomas. Newt sat up properly and kissed thena again, then rested his forehead on hers smiling.

After a while they both got up fingers interlocking as the walk over to a shelf preparing to get supplies. They separate there hands reluctantly as they stuffed bags with supplies.

Thena looks over her shoulder to see Aris eyeing a walkie talkie set. She just shrugged it off overjoyed to be with newt again.

"You'll never make it on foot" Marcus groaned, Jorge just chuckled then said

"not if we take bertha." With that Marcus's face went from a beat up smirk to a terrified begging face and gulped

"not Bertha"
