All 9 people were stuck in a medium size car. It zoomed along the empty roads heading for the mountains. Athena and Aris where sitting next to each other in the back as Newt was sitting shotgun. Athena would have much preferred sitting next to Cassy or Newt but there she was sitting next to Aris.
"What was it like in your maze?" Athena blurted trying to make conversation with the boy.
"Uhh..." he started looking at her with stary eyes
"well it wasn't much different from your maze fr-from what I hear." He looked down and said
"I miss the people in my maze..." Athena looked at them sympathetically then patted his shoulder. He looked up at her and smiled, a second passed and aris fling his arms around her, a display of affection she was only really used to from newt or even cassy. Athena was in shock for a second then hugged him back saying
"I really like you Athena." Athena eyes widened and she patted the boys back feeling extremely awkward. Athena felt lost for words then she remembered one of her first interactions with cassy and just winged it the words spilling out
"yeah well you not half bad your self aris". A sudden jolt stopped the car and everyone inside flung forward a little.
"We have to to take it on foot from here" Jorge said getting out of the car, the gladers followed manoeuvring there way through the cars. Then a gun shot fired it hit the car next to Thomas and Cassy making them fall over.
"SHIT" Athena screamed running behind a car and dragging Newt with her. The rest of the gladers hid behind other cars as Newt yelled
"DID ANYONE SEE WHERE THOSE BLOODY SHOTS CAME FROM!"
No one answered. There where a few muffled words from the car Jorge and Thomas where hiding behind. And then two loud, commanding and female voices erupted
"DROP IT"
nothing happened
"DROP IT"
the voice said again...in a more threatening tone. The sound of a gun loading sent shivers down the gladers backs. There was a clattering then the voice... and another one said
"GET UP BOTH OF YOU GET UP AND MOVE!" all the gladers followed the instructions, even if they where only for Jorge and Thomas.
"PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR" everyone obeyed. Then the two girls eyes widened when they saw Aris, the two girls take off the rags around their faces
"ARIS!" one girl yelled in joy.
"Sonya...Harriet" aris said mouth agape. The girls ran at him and hugged him
" ARIS YOU STUPID SON OF A BITCH" the girl with brown said. The other girl who looked suspiciously like newt and Cassy said
"YOUR LUCKY WE DIDN'T SHOOT YOUR DUMB ASS!" They hugged for a moment then Minho interrupted
"wait aris...you know these shanks!?" Aris turned around his eyes teary and then he spoke
"we where in the maze together" he looked like he had just been reunited with his sisters or something. Athena smiled at them as one of the girls ...Harriet shouted
"STAND DOWN GUYS THERE WITH US!" Thomas stepped forward and asked
"where looking for the right Arm do you know where they are" Sonya gave Harriet a look then said
"yea...something like that"

As they are all walking towards the mountains brenda approaches thena and newt at the back of the group
" heyyy, can I talk to thena for a moment?" Brenda puts on a fake smile as newt kisses athena
"of course" he says before walking up to cassy, brenda scoffs,
" what was that for" Athena asks Brenda, was she scoffing at newt, why?,
"how are you not jealous " Brenda turns to Athena to wait for her response
" what do you mean Brenda" Athena's tone getting annoyed slightly
"like you know, cassy and newt spending so much time together. I would be annoyed if my boyfriend spent that much time with another girl" brenda rolls her eyes switching her gaze from cassy to thomas, thena laughs
" brenda oh my god" she laughs again getting Brenda's attention
" what" brenda asks her voice nervous
" cassy and newt are siblings, of course I'm not jealous " Athena turns to Brenda
"besides he's my boyfriend and I trust him, he can spend time with whoever he wants" thena looks away from brenda and walks to newts side grabbing his hand.
The gladers enter the mountain tops following Sonya and Harriet. Athena was in awe, aren't these people supposed to be an army? Why is it so small? A man approached the gladers and said
"Who are they! Did you check em' for infection?" The question was directed at Harriet who understood and answered
"no... But I know this guy Aris he's good... I trust him" the man continued to talk and Athena tuned him out and looked around then she saw Brenda... she was panting and looked almost purply pale, with that thought Brenda collapsed struggling to breath.
"WHOA WHOA WHATS HAPPENED" the man said. A ruckus erupted.
"I- I don't know"
"Is She dead!?"
"Whats wrong"
The man approached Brenda looking suspiciously at a torn rag at her ankle, he crouched down ant ripped the rag off. A commotion of gasps erupted at the man shot up and stepped away saying
"It's a Crank!Crank! We have a Crank!" He took out a gun swiftly and it ready to shoot. Thomas ran in front of Brenda as the rest of the gladers look around in shock. Athena backs up and intertwines her fingers with Newts. Jorge was screaming and Thomas was trying to convince the man not to shoot and evidently kill Brenda. A lady approached screaming
"VINCE! VINCE STOP!" She approached the group of gladers looking in awe at Thomas and Athena.
"They can help the girl" she said pointing at Thomas and Athena. Newt took a small protective step in-front of Athena trying to shield her from the eyes of the unknown strangers.
"Wha-what do you mean?" Thomas asked curiosity empowering his every decision.
"Interesting makes sense they would put you in the maze after what you two did" the lady answered, almost to herself. Thomas and Athena shared a inquisitive glance at each other before Athena questioned the lady even more
"what did we do"
"well the first time we spoke Thomas said he couldn't stand watching all his friends die in the maze shortly after he went... missing. You Athena then contacted me giving me every coordinate and location of every wicked facility and compound... you said you hated seeing your best friends"
nodding at Thomas, Cassy and Newt before continuing
"go through the maze with you on the other side, you also said that your mother was sick, you had given her a more violent deadly strand of the flare...then your contact cut off too." The gladers gaped at the lady bewildered.
"Now get the girl to the medical tent" the lady said walking off "oh and Thomas, Athena you come to... I need your blood."
