Scar shifted, blinking as he remembered who he was and where he was. The events of last night flashed through his head, and he closed his eyes for a moment to remember the happy feeling he got whenever he was with Grian. Speaking of, he turned to see the blonde still sound asleep on the bed, looking calm and peaceful. He smiled at the sleeping figure before getting up and stretching, making sure to be quiet as to not wake his friend. The brunette laid a gentle kiss on the other's forehead before tiptoeing to the living room.
It was early, the sun was just cresting over the canopy of jungle trees. A few hours until his next "talk" with his former friend. He planned on leaving soon, though, so no one would worry about him and he could slip away unseen.
As he climbed down the ladder to the outside, he spotted two people sitting a little ways off, in the place where Grian had been shot. They seemed to be just chilling, so he figured he leave them alone and go on his way. He did note that they looked a bit strange, though.
The brunette slithered away, starting his trek toward the shack. He'd go slow, he decided, to prepare himself. Plus, he still Pham plenty of time. That's what he kept telling himself, at least. Plenty of time.
The jungle was really quite beautiful if you took the time to look at it. He saw flowers of deep purples and blues, leaves with spiky thorns and pretty patterns, trees with the deepest hues of brown and gray one could imagine. If today wasn't such a nervous one, he would've love to take a peaceful walk with nothing to worry about. But, of course, it wasn't.
The shack came into sight, and a deep feeling is dread settled in his stomach. Whatever happened in there would decide the future of not only him and his friends, but also the outcome of the entire war. No pressure, though, he thought as he chuckled drily to himself.
The door was open. Not a good sign, considering he was supposed to be early so he would have time to prep himself. The brunette walked in cautiously, the dread in his stomach churning as he saw green eyes in the dark. Damnit.
"Early, are we?" A voice sang from the abyss, the voice he knew to be Dream's. He said nothing, preferring to stand still and stare ahead, his hatred clear on his face. The figure stepped into the light from the door, making his trademark lime hoodie visible. "That's fine. At least we can get straight to business." Scar eyed the axe that was slowing sliding out of Dream's back. "I assume you've finally come to your senses?"
The other backed away slightly, glaring at him. "I've been with my senses for quite a bit. I think it's you who needs to face reality. Trying to kill people for no reason? Your a monster!"
The blonde's eyes flared with anger, and he took a step toward Scar menacingly. Suddenly a hand placed itself on the green-jacketed man. "Calm down, Dream," a British voice soothed, the rays of sunlight revealing a short brunette wearing a blue sweater standing slightly behind the blob man. It seemed to work, though, because Dream took a deep breath, turning to the newcomer. "I'm alright, Georgie," he lamented, smiling slightly at his friend. Scar could tell they were soulmates; the way Dream's gaze would soften looking at the other, and how George could cool the temper that many succumbed to. Like me and Grian, the taller thought, before shaking the thought from his head. How silly! Him and Grian weren't soulmates!
He didn't want to ruin the moment, but it was high time they got this over with. The taller brunette coughed slightly, stifling a laugh when the two looked away from each other, embarrassed. "I don't care what you say, Dream. I am fighting on the side of the Avians, no matter what you do. I'd rather protect innocent people and die in the process then side with a bunch of selfish, conniving jerks!"
All of a sudden, there was an axe at his throat. He gasped, trying not to slice his neck on the cold metal that was protruding forth. Jade eyes stared right into his. "You'll regret that. I know you think you're 'doing the right thing', but you're not. So I'll tell you again. It's them or us, but you've gotta to choose."
Scar gulped. His heart was racing, his palms were sweaty, and his head felt strange. Grian, he realized, fear turning to worry. If the blonde was in his head, what if he found out was what going on? What if he could get hurt somehow from this "connection" thingy?
Dream, mistaking the Avian-ally's silence for defiance, moved the axe and scraped it across Scar's cheek in a crescent arch. He touched a hand to his mouth. Wet. The metallic taste of blood hit his tongue. This wasn't going to be 'friendly' compromise anymore. He had to get out of there. Now.
George was reaching for Dream, hand outstretched and a slightly shocked look on his face. In the moment that the blonde elf turned, Scar booked it out the door as fast as possible. He could hear the angered yells of Dream as he fled into the forest, dodging trees and getting smacked my branches. Just get to the bunker, he thought. You'll be safe there.
After a bit, the elf realized the other hadn't followed him. He bent over, his chest heaving as he took in big gulps of air. Wiping his sweaty forehead, he looked around and realized that he was a few feet away from the treehouse. He started toward it, still keeping an eye out for his pursuers while replaying the scene over and over in his mind. Strangely, all he could think of was, get to grian, get to grian. He figured it was because it was his friend, and friends always make you feel better.
The bunker finally in view, he stumbled the last few steps and collapsed at the door. Just as he was about to open it, the door swung open and worried ebon eyes met his. Scar gazed at his friend's cheek, a scratch with dried blood dripping from it. "I'm so sorry," he whispered, before falling into Grian's arms, finally accepting the sweet abyss of exhaustion.
