"Scar, you're my soulmate."
He looked at Grian, confused, trying to process the information he had just been given. He tilted his head slightly. "Soulmate...?" He questioned, considering if his friend had recently hit his head.
The blonde nodded seriously. "I've known for a while now, but I didn't want to tell you in case it ruined your career. Avians and Elves, it's looked down upon, and I know you love your job, and-" he rambled on, fidgeting with his hands.
Scar stopped him, holding out his hands. "Grian, wait. How do you know that we're Soulmates?"
Grian stared at him for a moment, then dragged him over to a mirror that was on the wall. He looked at Scar. "Now, move your hair," he demanded, motioning to the mirror.
Scar did what he was told, more out of obedience than believence. The brunette moved his hair, staring at his forehead in the mirror. His Soulmark. It was white.
He gasped. "Oh! G, how did you know that my Soulmark was there? I had totally forgotten about that!" He turned toward Grian, excited.
Grian rolled his eyes. "Scar, focus. Look." He rolled up his sleeve, showing his Soulmark, before placing it next to Scar's. They lit up brighter.
"See? I had asked Cleo and Pearl. They said that Soulmarks glow brighter when their next to their matching one. Don't you see? It's proof that we're soulmates."
The elf looked from the mirror to Grian to back to the mirror. He stayed silent for a moment. "Oh my god, Gri, we're soulmates!" He laughed, letting his hair fall back down as he took Grian in his arms and spun him around. "This is so cool! My best friend is my soulmate!"
The Avian turned pink. "Scar, we are bound by a force that is more mysterious than life itself, and you're excited that you're soulmates with your best friend?" He questioned, climbing out of Scar's hands.
"Why, of course! This means we never have to be apart again! I can stay in the jungle, and we can have a nice, quiet life, with Jellie and pandas and.."
Grian shook his head. "Scar, we still have a war to fight. And this doesn't have to change anything. I just figured you had a right to know," he said, fiddling with the loose strands in his sweatre.
"It changes everything! Oh, this is awesome! I can't wait to tell Bdubs!" He jumped up and down giddily, hugging the smaller as he did so.
Grian looked up at him. "So, you're not mad..?" He questioned. Scar smiled. "Why would I be mad?" "I dunno. I'm an Avian, and your an elf. And, yknow..."
The magician blinked, smiling. "You think I care about stereotypes? I don't care what your are, as long as I get to be with you."
Grian stared at him, absolutely confounded. "You really don't care that we're from different species?" The taller shook his head, still smiling. Grian smiled, tears threatening his eyes. "That's the sweetest thing I've ever head, Scar."
The brunette squeezed him into a hug, laying a kiss on his hair. "You deserve to hear all the sweet things, because you're the sweetest person I've ever met," he remarked, resting his chin on the others sandy hair.
He turned red. "You're such a spoon," he stated, hugging Scar back. The other laughed. "Yes, but now I am officially your spoon, so you'll have to deal with it," he teased.
The blonde stayed silent for a moment, thinking. He looked up at his soulmate. "Scar?" He questioned, fiddling with a feather that had somehow gotten embedded in his hair.
"Hmm?" He looked at him expectantly.
"..."
"I love you," ~ he stated, staring at Scar, slightly worried at how he would react.
The elf slowly broke into a smile. "I love you, too." He replied, leaning down and giving Grian a kiss. Grian beamed, wrapping Scar in a big hug, wings included. The older chuckled, hugging him back.
"I'm going to go tell Bdubs now!" He announced, letting go and grinning at his soulmate. "He's not gonna believe this." The other simply smiled, not wanting to spoil his fun, though he was pretty sure everyone but Scar had already known, as Cleo had said.
"Well, good luck with that. I think I'll stay in here for a bit." Scar nodded, already heading for the door and practically jumping out of his boots. Grian giggled, watching him run out the door.
Once Scar was gone, he lay down on the bed, thinking. He'd finally told Scar, and he was glad that the other hadn't reacted badly, as he'd thought. But what now? What happened after the war, if they even made it past the war? What if Scar died? He felt a lump in his throat, and shook his head to clear it of the negative thoughts. It would all be fine....right?
He closed his eyes, breathing out his nose. He smiled. The brunette hadn't been disgusted, of annoyed, or angry. In fact, he'd been overjoyed. His heart leapt as he remembered Scar saying he loved him. Maybe everything would be fine, huh?If only he knew....
Also, more news.
I've decided to start another book
(again, I know)
It won't release for a while though, and it's not Scarian, as usual. It'll be something else, and if you've seen my reading list, you can probably figure it out since it's like the only other fandom I'm in. Also, soliloquy is kinda on hold rn while I try and finish this book. So yeah. Sorry for the shitty chapter, I just wanted to get one out before midnight.
Thanks for reading ✌️
(bryan stop reading go away)
