Character POV: Roxanne
Just like then, Ariadne showed a soft side to me today. To all of the world, Ariadne is a heartless woman who will kill whoever it take to get her way. She is that. I was on the wrong end of that for a while because of my choice to allign myself with Analize. But, that's not all she is. Like with every person, you can't neatly fit them into a single category. The most evil have done at least one good thing, but that doesn't make them good. The good have done evil, but for some reason that doesn't make them evil. Ariadne has done more good than evil in her long life, at least to me. She's done far less evil than Analize has and yet, for centuries, Analize has been classified as the good person in this war. It's time for that narrative to end, no matter what it takes. People need to see the truth about this situation, not just from the perspective that is granted by what species you belong to, but from an almost objective perspective. They need to see me there, in my own right mind, to drive home the point.
I think back on that night, one that is similar to other ones that I had. I remember having one when I was with David, and he tried to comfort me. Things did not go quite the same when I was with him, which should have been some sort of indication in and of itself. He was never able to bring me back down and back to sanity. He was only good for acting as a distraction from my problems, in retrospect.
