You dropped your duffel bag by the table you don't have weight on your shoulders. There was some classical music that played indicating the "game" is starting.I only have thirty seconds. To your luck, the row of seats closest to the screen started with J. There was plenty of leg room in between the rows, which gave more distance to go.
You quickly tie your h/c hair up into a ponytail to keep it out of your way. You start jogging to the sides of the rows and you can barely see the row letters. They were very dimly lit up.
Instead of trying to study the row letters, you decided to count.
I know J is the tenth letter of the alphabet, so I need to count three rows back to get to row G.
"Twenty seconds remaining."
You run passing two rows. Of course, a big cubic-like obstacle pops up in front of the opening to row G.
"My luck," you scoffed.
You take a few steps back and start running towards the obstacle. Once you're close enough, you place your hands on the top of it, just barely reaching it. You quickly pull yourself over and jump, nearly falling as you land on the ground.
"Ten seconds remaining."
Glancing to the seat numbers while running, you notice there are about twenty seats per row. You were by seat fifteen. Only eight seats to go.
You looked at the phone while still running and noticed you only had five seconds left. Once it reaches one second, you hop into your seat.
You glanced down to your hands and noticed slight blood dripping from them. "Ow," you hissed, finally feeling a little pain. Those spikes must be sticking out from the sides and top.
You shift your focus from your hands to the people around you. The first two girls you saw were not next to each other, but both were seated. You could tell they were looking for each other.
The girl with pigtails just sat silently in her seat, staring at the floor. You felt bad for her. She came here alone and didn't have someone to look out for or look out for her like the other girls.
The man in the suit noticed you looking at him and gave you another smile. You waved softly to him and looked to the blonde-haired man. He was slouched in his chair with his arms crossed. You could tell he didn't care about being here.
Everyone, including you, lifted up their legs as the spikes from the obstacles shot down the rows and pierced into the walls or unoccupied seats.
Everyone's phone chimes with a new seat number. Yours was D-17.
"Round two. Start."
Without hesitation you jump up from your seat and run to the end of the row. You head up to row D. You turn down the row and run. At seat 5 an obstacle appears.
You do the same as before, cutting your hands and legs along the way. You barely made it over this one when another one pops up at seat 14.
Seriously? Another one?
"Ten seconds remaining."
You managed to hop over this one. However, you landed on your ankle in a weird and painful position.
"Ah! Shit!" you hissed loudly.
You waddled your way to seat 17 with one second remaining.
You heard a loud scream and what sounded like spikes piercing through a body. You look in the direction of the scream only to see the blonde-haired man's lifeless body on the floor.
So that's what kind of game this is. And we still have eight rounds to go.
You bit your lip and shut your eyes as you felt the pain from your ankle. You didn't want to sound like you were in pain. You hated when people notice you're in pain.
The next four rounds everyone seemed to make it to their designated seats. You were moving around slower due to your swollen ankle, but you weren't going to let that stop you.
During round seven, you could definitely feel the pain. You were limping now. Your seat was J-4 but you were still in row F. The girl with the pigtails saw you were struggling and came over to you. You looked at her.
"I'll take you to your seat." she said with an innocent smile as she looked at your phone. You didn't say anything as she picked you up. You mumbled to her.
"You don't have to." The girl chuckled softly. "I know. But you remind me of my big sister. She always protected me. She's gone now, so this is like me paying her back."
"Twenty seconds remaining."
Your eyes started to get watery. Hearing those words reminded you of your little brother.
"I'm Saiya by the way." She manages to say while jumping over an obstacle.
"Ten seconds remaining."
"I'm y/n. Thank you for helping me. You better hurry to your seat!" you say as Saiya sets you down in your seat.
She smiles again. "It's okay. I get to see my sissy now. We get to play again." She looks up at you. "Make it to the end, okay? I'll tell my sister how much you reminded me of her!" She waved to you as the spikes pierce through her body.
"Saiya!!" You tell as a tear falls down your cheek. You held your hand over your mouth as you look at her laying there. "I didn't even get to give you a hug." you whispered.
You only had three more rounds to go. You couldn't get Saiya off of your mind. You struggled but you pushed through.
"Game Clear. Congratulations."
You look down to your phone to see you had a visa for three days. "Visa?" you questioned.
"You have three days to prepare for your next game." You turn to see the man in the suit speaking to you. "Is your ankle okay?"
You just nod. "Where the hell are we? Why do we have to play these sick and deranged games?" You limped over to your bad and tried picking it up. "Mmm" you moaned in pain.
"Let me." The man picks up your duffel bag and swings it across his shoulder. He wraps his arm around your waits and places your arm around his shoulder. You just looked at him.
"You really don't have to." you said softly.
"You're hurt. You don't need to be putting pressure on that ankle." He chuckled.
"What are you, a doctor?" you laughed softly.
"No, but my friend is." He smiled. He walks you guys outside to a nearby pharmacy and sits you up against the wall. He sets your bag down next to you.
"I'm going to find some bandage wraps for your ankle and some smaller ones for your cuts. I'll be right back."
He walks away but before going through the door he turns to you.
"My name is Katsuki." He smiles before heading into the store.
Katsuki. He can't be my old best friend from middle school...can he?
