Chapter 15: Heart attack

"REI" I screamed in horror as my the thought stroke my mind, shaking every bit of emotional stability I had left at the moment.

Kat flinched at my sudden scream, his eyes scanning every inch of my worried yet horrified expression.

"What happened?! Are you okay? " he asked.

"Rei is in danger! Last time that asswipe tried to send me to Jesus it was Rei who knocked him out! " you responded with a scared tone."We need to go now! "

You took his hand in yours while your feet started running at the highest pace you've ever experienced.

You had a hard time breathing the February air but it really didn't matter to you since your best friend could see heaven any minute now. You know Rei isn't aware of Vern's return but you try to convince yourself that she can resist him until you and Kat get there.

You finally reach Rei's place only to discover that she was peacefully mowing the lawn in front of her house. She rises up her gaze to you two and her peaceful smile dropped when she saw your horrified expression.

"What in the world happened to Ki-" she started.

"Leave that lawn now we need to talk" you stated.

"Damn you sound like my mum when she sees my report card.. " Rei mumbles before entering the house with you two.

After you all entered the house and locked the door, there was an awkward silence.

"Kira, tomorrow is the ball. It's like 5pm if I'm not wrong. What's going on? " Rei asked unexpectedly calm.

"You see.... Vern's back" you mentioned.

"SAY WHAT?" she bursted out.

"Yeah, he's back and he's not very happy of how happy we were while he was away.... Now he's off for revenge" Kat spoke in a low tone.

"Not to mention, I was surely not pulled behind some buildings and almost got killed. Again. " you continued.

"What the fu-" Rei started. She made a break, as if she was processing everything. "And why did y'all come to me in horror as if y'all just witnessed my murder? " she asked.

"Cuz we thought you'd get murdered to be honest. We thought Vern was gonna come at you for revenge since last time he messed up with you, you put him to sleep. So we wanted to warn you. " you said.

"Have y'all heard of phone calls? No? Just me? Ok" Rei sarcastically remarked.

"Bruh what was a phone call gonna help with if you were getting strangled by that jackass? Were you gonna say 'sorry, gotta pick that up'? " Kat stated.

"You're kinda right. Thanks for telling me tho. Did you announce the police? " Rei asked curiously.

"Of course. They couldn't find him but he's in their wanted list" you responded.

"I don't think he has to where to go and stay for long, he's more likely to wander around the city and surroundings" Kat stated after thinking for a while.

"Of course not. The entire high school knows about what happened that bloody day when we almost met the stairway to heaven" Rei blurted out.

"In this case I'm gonna head back to my house, since the Ball is tomorrow and you know, gotta get the beauty sleep" you said trying to end the worries.

"In my case, fuck the beauty sleep I could pull an all nighter but just for the sake of the ball I'm not going to" Rei responded chuckling.

"Oh and keep your doors and windows locked and your curtains closed, Rei." you remember.

"Alright. See you at... What hour was it again? " Rei asked while recalling all her memories by puting her index fingers on her temples.

"Oh my gosh, Rei, you're so carefree." You said facepalming yourself. "It's at... " you start but came to realisation that you also forgot the time.

"Oh? Who's talking" Rei said ironically.

"It's at 7pm y'all have amnesia or something? " Kat said all of a sudden.

You nudged his arm with your elbow, resulting in him wincing.

"Okay, okay sorry" he said still holding onto his arm.

"I'll take my leave now, see you tomorrow, Rei! Take care, and keep your tennis racket under your pillow at night. You never know" you adviced her.

"Thought about the same thing sissy" she responded.

You waved goodbyes and got out of her house. Kat followed you out and looked around, making sure y'all were alone.

He guided you back to your house. You two stopped, both wanting to say something but unable to find the suitable words. There's was an awkward silence. The only thing you could gear was your heartbeat and how it's pace was rising every second. You were deeply looking in his orbs and he was returning the state, both not knowing whether you should break the silence or just keep the special moment going.

"You mean so much to me" Kat finally decided to end the awkward situation. It wasn't the best choice of words since he totally blocked your brain for a couple of seconds.

"You too~" you decided to respond. You could feel a warm tint of rose spreading on your cheeks because of how endearing Kat was looking at you.

Then he left you speechless. He pulled you in his embrace, your noses slightly brushing against each other, and everything that you had left to do was to stare. He was holding onto you tightly by your waist. You could smell his sweet scent. You were still getting flustered by this type of actions that he does, and he knew it. That's why he let out a giggle when he saw you blush hard in his embrace.

"I love you so much, Kira" he whispered lovingly.

"I love you too" you succeed to say still lost in his eyes.

He starts leaning closer and you predict what can happen. You shut your eyes closed, waiting for the pleasing sensation.

After a couple of seconds that felt like forever, a soft pair of lips can be felt on yours, brushing against each other, moving in sync. The kiss was magical. One of his hands was holding your cheek while his other was keeping you close by holding your waist, while your arms were locked around his neck. You slowly pulled away, in need of air. You looked down from embarrassment and he chuckles seeing your shy reaction. He holds your face with both of his hands making you look at him while putting one of his sweetest smiles you've ever seen.

"Take care of yourself ,princess, tomorrow is your time to shine. " he said in a flirty manner.

"Be sure that I will. Especially my beauty sleep." you said flipping your collar bone length hair.

He giggled seeing your action and he took advantage and pecked your lips once more. Of course it took you by surprise.

"See you tomorrow, Kira. Love you" he blurted out while winking at you.

"See you too, flirty ass. Love you more" you yelled at him since he was already running to his house.

You looked at his silhouette that was slowly fading away down your street under the street lamps. You smiled to yourself and made your way to your porch.

Once you got in you locked the door, trying to shrug away the déjà-vus that were intoxicating your brain at the moment. You pull the curtains and secure all the windows.

Never have I ever thought I'd be securing my house just like in the middle of an apocalypse. Jesus Christ.

And with that you waddled to your kitchen, called Felix and put him the dinner in his bowl.

After that you rushed upstairs and flopped yourself on your bed, almost instantly drifting to your dreamland, thinking about the day of tomorrow.
