Another chance

Left alone

"I did," he whispered. "Are you doing this because you pity me?" Pete asked. "No, please don't misunderstand" Vegas pleased. "I just want to respect your decision, that's all. " They sat there for a long time crying in each other arms. The morning was awkward. Neither Pete nor Vegas knows what to say."Let's talk," Pete said. "Yeah" 

"First, I want to apologize for keeping it a secret and lashing out last night. It was just overwhelming, I guess." He said.

 "It's fine Pete, I understand. I shouldn't have gone behind your back, " Vegas apologizes.

"I felt like my world came crashing down when I opened that document containing your health result."

"I have always taken you for granted and never appreciated what you have done for me. Always hurt you until you were broken." Vegas continued.

 "When you got mad at me, I thought you would forgive me just like how it has been in the past. But when you didn't, I was desperate to get your forgiveness. You started to treat me coldly, the sweet voice that send me off when I went to work or welcome me when I came back, no matter how late I was, you would wait up, but then you weren't there. I long for things once I lost them. I never realise it until it was too late."

"Maybe it is a punishment from god for not treating you well. " Vegas tried to laugh but his voice cracked."Vegas. " Pete pulled him in for a tight hug.

"Pete, I am sorry. I know that whatever I do is not going to change things in the past but I want to change the future. I want to love you Pete, I want to take care of you. " Vegas was crying in Pete's arm and Pete stroke him in the back. The problem was resolved and the couple was once again at peace. The couple promises that they will not keep secrets from each other.

1 year later......

"Venice come on, hurry up" Venice run down the stair and to his father who was waiting. They got into the car and drove to the hospital. Pete's condition has worsened and has to be hospitalized. Although Pete hated the idea, he agreed. 

Vegas took a break from work and devoted his time to caring for his son and mate. Seeing Pete getting weaker day by day and knowing that he couldn't do anything to change it broke his heart. Maybe if he wasn't a jerk at the beginning of their marriage this would happen, Vegas would think. But regretting the past is useless either way cause sooner or later Pete is going to be gone. 

And when that time comes Vegas will be alone.
