Slytherin House

Once the feast had ended and the announcements of that year were made, Tom, Abraxas and Tadeus followed the Slytherin prefect to their common room along with the other first years.

Tom could feel eyes on him but from what Enceladus told him, the confrontation wouldn't happen until they were safe behind Slytherin doors.

And from the way Regulas Black was eyeing him, he knew who it would be. Taking a Black down a notch would be a perfect way to make his first small wave in the wizarding world.

"This is the entrance to our common room. The password is Merlin. It changes each month, if you forget ask a prefect and we'll tell you but do not forget after." said the fifth year, the portrait of a sleeping snake opening soon after.

Tom found being around the Malfoys made him enjoy more comfortable surroundings and the Slytherin common room was very comfortable with brilliant stone floors, chandeliers and large elegant sofas and chairs.

There was a fire place and several books cases, two different sets of stairs leading up to the boys' and girls' dormitory.

"Our head of house, Horace Slughorn, would like to speak with you." smiled the prefect and the students turned their attention to a short man with a round belly and a wide grin.

Tom thought the man looked almost like one of those people that came to the orphanage to sell muggle inventions. Not to mention, his magic was weak.

"Welcome to Slytherin House. Unlike the other houses, we only have three rules. If you are to do any rule breaking, do not get caught. Slytherin House keeps a cool and unified front, if there are any altercations or disagreements between housemates, settle it behind these walls. And finally, Slytherin House has enemies within the other houses. They are intimidated by us, as such they tend to bully us with no remorse. Stick together when roaming the castle, groups of two or three if you can. Lights out at ten. You may do as you wish till then." he said, meeting their gazes, then smiling and leaving soon after.

As soon as Slughorn was gone Regulas Black along with Rabastan Lestrange, approached Tom.

Abraxas stood by his side but did not step in until he knew it was necessary.

"Riddle, isn't a pureblood name." said Regulas, looking Tom over and the shorter boy stood firm, never wavering even with the Black scion looking down on him.

"It isn't, but I don't believe asking my blood type is the proper etiquette for an heir to the Black name." replied Tom, his expression blank and Regulas narrowed his eyes at the boy.

"You think you're smart Riddle?" he uttered, his wand appearing in his hand and Tom took note of this. Regulas could use wandless magic to an extent.

"Actually I am very smart. I could show you, if you'd like." he replied and before Regulas could get a word out, Tom released the strict hold on his magic. There were several gasps, students becoming pale and Regulas freezing, his eyes widening slightly at the feeling of dark magic.

Tom gave a tiny lift of his lips, his blue eyes gleaming with a challenge. "I would not touch me, if I were you, Black. No matter my blood status, you are far too weak, to challenge me." he said quietly, the boy's grip on his wand tight.
