The Twins
Alecto and Amycus Carrow, were twins.
Twins were rare to muggles as well, however to wizards, twins were seen as a blessing.
At a young age the two were groomed to be the perfect pureblood heir and heiress.
They did anything and everything together, however, they began to get bored, restless. They felt..like they couldn't be themselves.
They did everything for someone or something else.
If Alecto were to have a crush on a boy, she would have to make sure said boy had status and wealth as well as good magic. If Amycus wanted to do something in the ministry he would have to make sure he became the minister.
If either one wanted to bring friends over, those friends had to be just a perfect as they were.
It was all very taxing, even for purebloods who were used to the life.
But when they came to Hogwarts, they were not the objects of attention, in fact they were more normal than they had ever been. No one looked their way, no one asked for their opinions nor did they ask to spend time with the twins. Alecto did not receive letters of proposal and Amycus was not well known with the Slytherin boys.
Instead all of the attention belonged to Tom Riddle and his Court.
Tom Riddle, the Heir of Slytherin and everyone's favorite obsession.
The tall, handsome young wizard with chocolate brown curls, the coldest blue eyes they ever had the privilege to see and skin like porcelain. He was intelligent, charming and powerful and it was shown in his friends and his every day life.
He almost never made a mistake.
Alecto and Amycus at first, like the rest of the Slytherin had been wary and skeptical of the boy, not willing to believe a half-blood heir was worthy of the name Slytherin. That it was preposterous when he demanded their acknowledgement and then their respect.
But what was even more so infuriating, was that he actually was, worthy.
Their first day he put Regulas Black in his place then soon after proved himself time again in his studies and his triumph over the Gryffindor House. His witty remarks and heavy sarcasm sent many a young student for a loop.
They had thought the half-blood would be weak and afraid, but he was not. He was the exact opposite. With the help of Abraxas Malfoy..no, the Malfoy scion could only claim to be part of Tom's success.
With Tom's resolve, he could do anything.
His magic was a force to be reckoned with but it was his mind that you had to be truly wary of. They deemed him the Smartest Wizard in their time.
Alecto and Amycus had been jealous at first, envious, even furious that they were suddenly nothing but dirt compared to Tom Riddle. But then gradually the envy turned into fascination and admiration.
They gravitated toward the boy, wanting to be apart of whatever it was happening between he and their peers.
They had never spoken to such high status families as the Malfoys, Blacks and Notts. Those three were apart of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, the eldest and most noble of the pureblood wizard society. They went to balls and parties, gatherings and the like but to approach someone like Enceladus Malfoy well..you just didn't.
