Let it unfold

It was late at night and Shadow had been shown around the base by Rouge and Knuckles while i joked around with troops all day. Everyone was fast asleep, but of course not me.

I kept rolling around, grunting annoyingly due to lack of sleep these past days. I decided to check if Knucks was awake, since i had nothing better to do. I mean if i was gonna annoy Shadow at 3AM, i think he'd end up kicking my head off.

I creeped through the empty rooms of our base until i reached a door saying: "Renegade Knucks." I knocked hoping for a reply. "Is it you Sonic?" i heard a tired voice creep from the oppisite side of the door, "Mhm, i coudln't sleep so i came here to annoy you." i proceeded to slowly creep the door open.

He was sat as his desk with a lamp on, he seemed to be working on some blueprints, probably for weapons. The linen color of the lamp created a soft shade across knucks'es bright red fur, i was always jealous how he could keep warm despite his fur being so short. 

I found myself gazing at the taller for a good moment before getting myself comfortable in the office couch on the other side of the room. "Knucks, i still haven't forgotten about the rooftop, you know you can tell me anytime." I tilted my head, looking at him reassuringly as it seemed an emotional topic. "Ah, you really can't forget Hegdehog, better start using those memory skills for battle." 

He slowly pushed the blueprints onto the corner of his desk into a tidy box, before moving to the other side of the couch. I felt my heart beat as i sat criss-crossed toawrds him, he was blushing again, and so was i. He reached out his palms, offering me to hold his hand, i reluctantly did as i felt beads of sweat form on my forehead, my pupils were probably the size of watermelons.

He looked at me so lovingly, i could pass out right then and there, his Amethyst eyes were a drug of their own, i coudln't help but feel at ease as we sat in loving silence staring at eachother.

After being in love with this echidna for a good 2½ years, i felt it was time i should confess, but it seemed he was doing it for me.

"Sonic, despite our diffrences, ever since i met you, i've always felt a sense of comfort around you." He slowly squeezed my hands, the lighting made it so much more romantic then it should've been, i couldn't help but smirk lovingly at him.

"I know we may not be too accepted, as in two diffrent breeds of mobians, and same gender, but.." he paused looking away slightly, like if he is regretting this. I cupped his cheek leading him back to my face. "Hey, its okay, you can tell me."

He purred into my hand as he proceeded to cup my face aswell, i was melting into the affection i could barely think straight anymore. "Sonic..I love you."

"Knucks, i've felt the same way since i met you." i couldn't help but tear up sligthly, as tears welled up in my eyes, my blush just grew greater. He pulled me in, i felt my breath stop.

omg...he is an amazing kisser.

He layed a gentle peck on my lips, i coudln't help but return the favor, as we basked in each others comfort, we had both layed down comfortably in a cuddly position. 

"Hey knucks, before we drift of to sleep, i just wanna tell you i think im Polyamarous, i don't want you too be stressed if i ever fall for someone else."  Knuckles'es eyebrow raised slightly as he processed the word. "Oh yeah, poly..glamorous.." i couldn't help but laugh into his chest, poly-glamorous? really?

"I don't mind Sonic, as long as i'm blessed to have you as close as we are now, i don't mind you with other people." 

I nuzzled into his chest, both of us purring, enjoying the warmth of eachothers bodies, as we slowly drifted off to sleep, like the two lovebirds we were.
