New Yoke City. ||(Sonknuxadow)||

Was never truely Mobian.

I grunted lowly as i rubbed my eyes, a comforting aroma surrounded me, my bed was more comfortable than ever! Annnddd then, i realised i was laying on Renegade Knucks.

I froze, my pupils were as dialated as a cat, i was sleeping on KNUCKLES? I started to remember the whole ordeal last night, including the kiss. My face turned as bright red as the echidna, i felt myself nuzzle into his chest out of pure embarrassment, and i mean, why not savour the moment while i still can?

I felt my muscles laze as i layed upon the echidna, i could hear his heartbeat, nice and steady, i could lay like this for hours, i heard a small grunt, i was scared that i woke him for a second.

Until, he layed both has arms around me, holding me down, and with his immense strength, i couldn't move an inch, not like i wanted too anyway-

"5 more minutes.." grumbled out of Knucks as he inched more comfortably in the couch, i put my arms around his neck, leaving my muzzle by the side of his, burrowing into his neck, nuzzling and purring an embarassing amount too, but i didn't care.

A small faint purr amitted from the echidna as he turned his head more in my direction, i couldn't help but watch as he let out small snores, he may look tough, but god, he was so adorable.

a faint knock was heard from the door, i felt myself almost jump at the sudden knock, i tried to break free from knucks but he was as strong as a boulder, didn't move an inch.

"Sonic, you must be in here, you always pester him when you can't sleep, also your rooms empty." Oh thank god it was Rouge, i would have had NO IDEA what excuse i'd come up with for Shadow.

"Give me a minute-" i heard a faint "hmm?" amitt from the other side of the door, she must've heard me grunt, struggling to get out the echidnas grasp. i finally made it out, almost falling in the process but i didn't wanna wake the peaceful Knucks. 

i creaked the door open slightly, signaling to the very much still asleep and snoring knuckles on the couch. She let me pass into the hall as she looked me up and down, i didn't realise my scarf was crooked, as well as my quills pointing everywhere other than backwards and down.

"What..happend..here.." i saw Rouge stare in pure disbelief, i noticed my roughed up look and fixed myself as soon as possible. "I-IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK! I JUST RESTED REALLY WELL! HIS FLOOR IS VERY COMFY IF YOU HAVE A BLANKET!" i panicked when i understood what she was thinking.

"Alright..i was going to say Shadow is looking for you, he wanted to chat with you outside a bit." I wiped the sweat off my muzzle as i tried to pull myself togheter after that terrible excuse. i did last adjustments to my quills as i walked towards Shadow's current camp area. I opened the door to see him scrollign through some osrt of magazine on one of the troop bottom-bunks. I plopped down beside him, "Whatcha' reading?" i looked over his shoulder. "Just a book, are you ready?" He turned to me as he put the red leathered book down. "Mhm, what did you wanna talk about?" He grabbed my hand and pulled me out the front base door. i felt butterflies as our hands interwined slightly.

He brought me towards the edge of a building, watching right over the base.

"I want to share information, not in a buisness way, in a friend way, as people call it." Shadow seemed almost robotic, as if he knew "getting to know each other" wasen't a known thing to him. "So you want to get to know each other?" i tilted my head slightly in confusion. "Yes, sorry for such a strange explanation." I brushed it off. 

"Well, what do you want to know?" i looked down as non-rebels and robots walked the streets aimlessly. "I want to know about your goal, about this pink hedgehog." My heart dropped, i've barely thought about her lately, i felt terrible knowing it may have seemed like i forgot about her. He must've noticed some of the pictures in my office while exploring base. "Well, i uhm.." I stopped.

"Is it a sensitive topic? you must not answer." he may be wearing a mask, but his cloak laying slightly dowward as he tilted his head, must have been his ears lowering in guilt or something alike. "It's fine i can tell you, She was an old friend."

"I knew her before the Chaos council took over this place, she was my best friend. She always stayed by me and Knucks'es side no matter what, she was always a great person, bringing smiles wherever she went, but a few years ago, she went missing when New Yoke started construcion on Green Hill." I rubbed my eye as tears started welling. " She was great, amazing even. I made a promise to keep her safe and protect her, but i can't help but feel i failed."

I looked away from Shad, i couldn't let him see me like this, i know its my fault for opening up, i can atleast save him the part of me crying.

"Sonic." his slightly metallic voice spoke. "You are very brave for telling me this." I felt his hand rest on my shoulder, i looked at him with a teary smile, as i rubbed away the tears that hadn't gone away yet.

"Thank you, now, why don't you tell me something about yourself?" I looked over at the taller as he looked up. "Well, i may not have a tragic fact about myself as you, but i do have a backstory." My ears perked up, i'd finally get to know where this strange hedgehog randomly came from.

"I'm not truely a mobian." my eyes widend, what does he mean not truely a mobian, he sure looks the part.

"i was man-made, as i said, 72 years ago. A kind but smart soul, living amongst mobians, when green hill was even greener than before. She lived in Solitude, until she found the smarts to build a life-like companion, me." 

I was getting so intrested i found myself un-knowingly leaning forward to hear better as i quickly pulled myself back before i got awfully close.

"Her name..Maria." 

"Maria created me, Shadow. She kept me by her side always, she always made me feel like i was truely living, not a creation. We grew a bond, despite the diffrences between us, we clicked like a family. She always made sure i was alright before herself, making sure i was fed and well taken care of. Her smarts to create such a "living" creature out of technology was always riveting to me, i could quite literally forget i was forged by her hands."

"Woah.." i let a woah of amazement slip out my mouth, i touched his arm to check if his fur was plastic, it felt like real fur.

"I know right?" He let out a small chuckle at my amazement of his fur. "I would question my existence from time to time, like, why did she make me so fast? why did she make me so strong? She always told me because, I was made to be a protecter of all, watching, making sure everything was alright, like a shadow."

"I was very grateful to have her be my creator and no one else, but one fatal flaw in my creation made me immortal without knowing. She was a young athletic lady, but an illness had fallen her." He looked down at his gloves, fidgeting with his joints. "She sadly had to go."

I felt a wave of sadness hit me, that was tragic, his only family member, died way too early, and he was immortal too? i couldn't help but look at him in pity.

"Hey man, i'm sorry." I put a hand onto his slightly shaking hands, holding them both comfortingly. "I'm sorry you went through that, no one deserves that, especially not someone as kind as you." He slowly reached up to his mask, pulling it down once more, grateful shimmering eyes glanced over at me. "No wonder i feel so mobian around you..."

"you are just as caring as her."
