Gabriella's POV
It's been almost a months since he died and things seem to keep better, mama is up and moving and even made it into work the other day, and me, I've still be crying every day but the pain is getting easier.
I woke up bright and early this morning to head to volleyball practice, I've already been scouted by the university of Washington but we have been told that the coach for the junior world championships will be there and I'm really hoping I'll be picked to be on the team. Im so nervous but excited at the same time.
Like I do every morning I rolled into my side to pick up my phone when I saw that I had a text message from a unknown number.
Unknown: hi Gabrielle, I'm aware that you mama told you about me and I understand that you didn't want to meet me, but I would really like to meet you. My wife Teddy Altman had told me all about you, she told me how amazing you are. I would never pushing you into getting to know me if you don't want too, so the decision is up to you. I'd completely understand if you just read this message and blocked my number but if you would like to meet me and my children Leo and Allison, I would really love that.
Owen Hunt (dad) xMy heart rate shot up, I'm not sure what to do, if I'm being honest I have been thinking a lot more about my dad since Andrew died, I have a sister and brother, a father and another mum out there somewhere, and I feel like I need to step out my comfort zone at least once but I was scared, I've gone all of this time without a father and I didn't need one know, but I'm going to do it, even if I'm only there 5 minutes. I'm going to meet them, I'm going to meet my dad.
So I decided to text back.
Gabriella: Sure that would be okay. But I would like to be honest with you, this was a hard decision for me, but ultimately I have decided that I need to make the effort to get to know my family, but I don't think I want to make it a regular thing. I have practice till 10am so I can meet after that if that's okay ?He texted back shortly after.
Owen: I really appreciate it, thank you. Would 10:30am be okay at my house *inserts address* ? If not no bother and we can rearrange. XGabriella: that's okay, see you later
What did I just do..................
I started to get ready for practice, did my hair and packed a spare change of clothes for after. I head downstairs to see mom already up, I think she just went on a run. "Morning Ella Bella, I've made you a protein shake and then there is a few snacks for after" she said to me and paused as she looked at me. "You look a little pale honey, are you okay ? She asked. "Yes I'm okay thank you, just a bit nervous as the big game is coming up soon" I replied knowing that I was just scared to meet Owen. "Thanks for the shake and the snacks. I'll have the shake now, but me and the team are going out for a late breakfast after practice if that's okay with you....... Also I might be running late, again, would you mind dropping me off ?" I asked her nervously thinking sure might get mad again. "Sure, she replied handing me the shake, snatching her keys off the counter and walking to the door
"GABRIELLA, what are doing" my coach shouted after she blew the whistle. "The big game is in 2 weeks and you are my most promising athlete to get chosen. It's like watching a 7 year old play, you are missing all your block, the serves are just off and you keep missing the ball, what's going on ?" She said. "I'm sorry coach I got a text this morning off my dad who I have never met before and I'm meeting him after." I said as the room went silent. "I promise I'm trying my best, I'll do better next tomorrow" I said as a tear formed. "It's okay, take some time, practice is almost ever, go to the changing rooms and take a minute to get ready, you know we are all here for you." She old me.
I headed into the changing rooms and sat down to catch my breath, I thought I wanted to do this but I don't think I can.
I got ready, did my hair so it wasn't looking all sweaty from the training and did a little make up before all of the other girls walked into the changing rooms. I was wearing a small cropped top which I covered with a blue oversized jumper with ripped jeans and my favourite pair of converse. I work my hair down and curled.
