Okay everyone! I got a D+ on my Bio finals and probably the same on my English yay! Well we all know where all my energy goes into, THIS BOOK!
I need to sort out my priorities, (yes that is a quote from Harry Potter).
Anyway one for final! Algebra!!! YAY wish me luck.... ugh.
Annie's POV
"What did I do?" Thomas rambled.
It's been 6 hours and that boy is still asking questions. Maybe it would have been better if he never sent himself up here in the first place. Should have stayed in the lab. I thought. "What did I do- why'd they send me here?"
Newt clapped him on the shoulder. "Greenie, what you're feelin', we've all felt. Well everyone but Annie." I raised my eyebrows as a 'you're not wrong' look, "We've all had First Day, come out of that dark box. Things are bad, they are, and they'll get much worse for ya soon, that's the truth." Wow, Newt, way to make him feel welcome.
"Is this a prison?" Thomas asked.
"Can you stop asking shucking questions?" I replied, "They're no good for ya and they'll just get you in more trouble."
"But I want some answers," Thomas insisted.
"Wait til' the morn most of them will get answered." Newt said.
"Chuck already show'd you the sleeping arrangements so you know where to go-"
"Go get some sleep," I said, finishing Newt's sentence.
I had barely finished speaking when a sudden, piercing scream ripped through the silence. High and shrill, non-human. Not even close. Every kid in sight turned to look towards the walls, where the sound came from. I saw Thomas shutter slightly and I turned to look at Newt, he shot me a glance.
"What was that?"
"That my friend," Newt said in his accent, "was a Griever."
"Noww don't you dare ask what a shucking Griever is because I ain't gonna tell ya." I said and walked off with Newt following behind me.
We left the boy to ponder his existence in this world he now called home. But not for very long.

Tonight's celebration was different from other nights. I knew it was to be our last Greenie celebration since the next Greenie to come up would be just a day away. Oh Teresa. I thought.
When I arrived at the Pit, I was greeted by Lindsey talking with Thomas, "Hey you two." I said walking up.
"Hey Annie," Lindsey said and she gave me a sort of side hug, "This is Thomas." I gave her a knowing glance of 'yes I already knew that' but I couldn't say it out loud due to Thomas being right beside us.
"Ah, ya remembered your name huh Greenbean." I said.
"Yeah and you don't gotta call me that anymore since my name is Thomas."
"Oh straight forward I see."
"Chuck said that you are the only ones to remember your past. Is that true?" He asked.
"Yeah it's true," I said, then tried to change the subject. "Hey, have you gotten some of Frypan's food yet? It's chicken and it looks delicious."
"Frypan?" He asked,
"He's the cook here, it's a nickname."
"Oh," he said and nodded, "I haven't but I sure am hungry."
The tree of us walked over to where the food was and I picked up a chicken leg biting into it. I picked up a jar and filled it with Gally's 'special drink'. I've gotten used to it by now so it's not as bad as the first time.
Newt was sitting against a log facing away from the fire pit. I walked over to him and sat down next to him with our legs out in front of us.
"Hey there,"
"Hi Annie,"
"Frypan really outdid himself tonight," I said and took another bite out of the chicken, "This is really good."
"Maybe you should have saved that chicken song for tonight, huh."
"You remember that?" I asked curious, that was so long ago.
"Of course I remember that,"
"I only asked 'cause I thought you weren't paying attention."
"I only did that because I was trying not, not to-," He paused and took a sip of his drink, "I was trying not to fall for ya."
"Why?" I took a bite from the chicken.
"I didn't want to ruin what we had, I didn't want it to change."
"Well you kind of did the opposite there because I thought ya hated me for a while there. You ignored me and I thought I did something wrong." I looked him straight in the eyes. The light from the fire shown on his face and the trees casting shadows that covered parts of his beautiful, flawless face.
"I did a bad job of it and I apologize. I didn't mean to do that to ya." He looked very cute in the fire light. How could I ever be mad at that face.
"I forgive you, you were unaware of it." I said. "I thought it was on purpose but it obviously wasn't."
"No it wasn't."
I faced forward again looking into the dark trees, casted with the light of the campfire. The light and the branches mixed together to cast eerie shadows into the dark wood. It was kind of pretty that way. Slowly I laid my head on Newt's shoulder, cautious of what he might do. I felt his body stiffen before relaxing slightly and repositioning his arm to be draped around my shoulder bringing me closer to him.
I didn't say anything, I didn't want to ruin the moment but thoughts raced through my brain and feelings bubbled in my stomach. I gently closed my eyes relaxing my body.
I wish we could stay like this forever.
