It was your first day on the job. You grabbed a cup of coffee, your binder, and stuck a pencil in your hair. You double checked around your cramped apartment to make sure you weren't forgetting anything and ran towards the door. You took the train all the way to the end of the line. When you got to your stop you looked around. "Wow!" You began, "So this is what the city looks like." You looked around at the tall buildings and watched the clouds pass by. You had to move to Japan because the office in California was closing down and besides you have always wanted to move to Japan anyway. You were bundled up in layers of clothes because your mom always told you "It's better to be warm then it is to be cold!" You laughed and began walking through the city. You still couldn't believe the sight of the city. It never looked anything like what you lived in back in Connecticut. Every two seconds you were moving from city, to city, from state, to state because of your job. You really were over exaggerating because you only had to move twice. From Connecticut to California to Japan. Crazy isn't it. You looked around for your new office building. Then there it was... JNN News Network Inc. "Wow!" You thought again. This is amazing. It looked like the building towered over all the others and that the only building in all of Japan was the JNN. You walked to the door triumphantly. " Kon'nichiwa, JNN nettowāku Incorperated ofisu Nihon e no kangei watashi wa kyō anata o tasukeru koto ga dekimasu ka?" Said the little lady at the front desk. "Excuse me?" You say. "My apologies (madame/sir) I'm so used to greeting people in Japanese," She says as she quickly types on the computer in fount of her. "What floor is the news office?" You ask trying to speed up the conversation. "Floor 116" Says the woman. "Arigatō" You say trying to remember the little Japanese you know. You step in the elevator behind the front desk and press button 116. The elevator slowly takes you up to the 116th floor. The doors slide open and your heart beats out of your chest. "Just breath," You say "Just breath..." You step out of the elevator and find your office. You find it and put your stuff down. "Wow! It's even bigger then I imagined!" You shout. You begin to unpack your stuff. "Kon'nichiwa!" Says a man calling for you outside your office. "Uh... Hello," You say and give a fake smile. "Uh... May I come in?" He says. "Sure..." You say awkwardly and pull up a chair. "Kon'nichiwa and Welcome to the JNN Inc the sister office of CNN the California News Network. My name is Itashiwo Shilen chief of news and information here at the office... And you must be (f/n) pleasure working with you, I heard good things about you from the California office so I expect a lot from you (f/n)!" Just as you were calming down you are more nervous then ever now. Itashiwo leaves the room and nods his head at you. You smile and wave him off. You set up pictures, unpack pencils and paper, setup a new computer profile, and finally take out your new official name tag. "(f/n)(l/n) JNN News Team." It looked great! A golden frame with your name on a dark piece of wood. It sat perfectly in the middle of your desk. Your office was finally complete. You were proud of yourself. You wanted it to be cozy and feel like a much better apartment building then the one your living in. You sat and waited for something interesting to report about on your first day. Nothing was happening. You decided since you were getting no crazy crime scene to write a report on you walked out into town to see if you found something interesting to write about. It was getting late and you were getting tired. You packed up your stuff and started walking home. You walked past this tiny comic book store and noticed an innocent girl being sexually harassed. The man let her go without causing any harm. He hopped on his motorcycle and... "OH MY GOD!!!" You scream. "THAT MAN JUST GOT HIT BY A TUCK!!!" You stared at the comic book store noticing the one man inside it staring at a black book with his jaw unhinged. What the hell just happened. You ran straight home. The next day three more people had died. Someone was killing criminals they spotted on the news. Just recently a man who was arrested for theft has died in his jail cell, At the court hearing for a man who killed his wife and children passed out in the middle of the jury session, and just recently a man accused of child abuse was found dead in the back of a cop car. One of the men at the office said it was suicide. "Sure!" You thought to yourself "Because passing out in the back of the cop car, NO BLOOD ANYWHERE whatsoever totally means signs of a suicide. You finally wrote the stellar newspaper article you've been waiting for
