By the time we got back from fishing, it
was starting to get dark. "Hey dad, let's make a campfire and eat marshmallows around it, like we used to." James said. Of course, Jim's face lit up like a Christmas tree and he immediately ran to get the fire wood. "I'll get the marshmallows." Mom said and scurried inside

I sighed and sat down on a log. Quinn sat down
Next to me with her iPad in her hands. She was playing minecraft as usual. I watched her for a while until Jim came back. "Where's Johanna?" He asked. "Inside getting the marshmallows." I said. He nodded and walked inside. About two minutes later, Jim and mom came back with three big bags of marshmallows. James ran to his cat and got a guitar and handed it to Quinn. "You still play right?" He asked and Quinn nodded. "Play us something while we get the campfire set up." Quinn sighed and started strumming Autumn Leaves by Ed Sheeran. She looked at me and motioned for me to sing, since she didn't sing in front of people.

"Another day, another life, passes by just
like mine, it's not complicated. Another mind, another soul, another body to grow old it's not complicated." Suddenly, I looked up and there was the man again, hiding behind a tree. I screamed and ran towards James' truck to get his gun when Jim stopped me "Veronica! What's wrong!?"

"The man Jim! He-he was right there!" I pointed towards the tree he was behind. Everyone looked in the direction of my finger and saw that no one was there.

"Yo, I think V needs to get some sleep..." Will said.

"Yeah, maybe I do." I said sarcastically. "Look I know what I saw okay? Let's just eat our damn marshmallows and get this over with." I sighed and sat down on my log again.

At around 10:00 we were still around the
campfire when James spoke up. "Anyone up for a scary story?" He said while wiggling his fingers at me and Quinn. I chuckled. "Sure James. Tell us a scary story." I said, mocking his hand motions.

"Okay. So I'm going to tell you the true story
about what happened here 20 years ago." James said in a lower voice then usual. "James, no. Veronica's already freaked out, she doesn't need to be freaked out anymore." Jim said and I rolled my eyes. "Continue with the story, James." I said and Jim glared at me. I returned a fake smile and turned back to James.

"Okay, a long time ago, on the other side of the fishing lake, there was a man named Neil. He was about 21 years old and lived with his wife, Carolyn and daughter Stephanie...

{Flashback; third person P.O.V}

Carolyn was making dinner when Neil walked into the house. "Where the hell have you been!?" She asked.
"Out." Neil said while getting a beer from the fridge. "And where exactly is 'out'? Why are you always gone?"

"Why do you ask so many damn questions!?" He yelled and Carolyn flinched. She started sniffing. "Do...do I smell cigarettes? Neil, you don't smoke." He started chuckling for some reason. "Yeah, I don't smoke. Not around you." He smiled. "Oh, so you smoke now? What other secrets are you keeping from me, Neil? We're a family now. Families don't keep secrets."

"I don't have to tell you shit." He sneered, his breath reeking of cigarettes and alcohol.

"Then niether do I." Carolyn snapped, turning off the oven and throwing the unfinished steak in the trash. She walked into the living room where baby Stephanie sat playing with blocks. Carolyn picked her up and walked towards the door.

"What in the hell do you think you're doing!?" Neil yelled from the doorway of the living room. Carolyn turned to get her purse and said, "Going out to eat. Make your own goddamn food." She said, and with that, she left.

To say Neil was angry was an understatement. He was furious. He thought up a plan for when Carolyn and Stephanie got back.

Two hours later, the front door squeaked open
and Carolyn stepped in. "Neil? Honey, I left Stephanie with my mom so she wouldn't hear us fight. Can we talk about this?" She walked to her and Neils room and saw him drawing a bath with candles lit around it. "Oh, I didn't hear you come in. Welcome home darling." He stood up and kissed Carolyn gently on the cheek. Carolyn was caught by surprise, considering her husband hasn't done anything like this in years. "Why thank you honey. Is this bath for me?" She asked. "Of course!" Neil said smiling. "Now, get in before it goes cold. And take as long as you want. No hurry." He kissed her temple and walked out of the room. Carolyn quickly undressed and got in. The bath was warm and soothing. She closed her eyes.

About five minutes into her bath, Neil walked
in again. "Are you enjoying it?" He asked and Carolyn smiled. It's perfect." She said. "How about some music?" Neil asked, holding up a radio and Carolyn nodded. He plugged it in and started playing some music.

About 15 minutes later, Neil walked back in.
The radio was still going and Carolyn looked asleep. He walked over to the radio and picked it up. Carolyn woke up and saw Neil. "Oh, you scared me. Wasn't sure it was you." She smiled. Neil had a blank expression on his face and stared down at her. "Neil? Honey, what's wrong?" She asked. Her husband still had the radio in his hand, but was now hovering over her in the tub. "Neil?"

Suddenly, Neil dropped the radio into the tub. Sparks flew everywhere, electricuting his wife. When the sparks had stopped, Neil unplugged the tub and watched as his wife laid there, lifeless, along with a fried radio. He picked her up and took her out into the backyard. He was quite pleased with himself. He couldn't explain why, but he felt pride in himself for what he had just did, and the feeling was about to get better.

He stopped and opened the barn. He went inside
And placed her on the table. He looked around, thinking of what he could do when he saw it in the corner. He smirked and carried her over to it. He laid her down on the ground next to the machine and realised that she was simply too big. He carried her back over to the table and grabbed an axe. He started cutting her limbs, chopping them off. He saved her blood in jars, and gouged her eyes out with forks. He then decided to take out her brain as well, so he cut off her head and, with a power saw, cut off the top part of her head. He removed her brain and put her head, both parts, along with the mess of bloody limbs. He carried every body part to the machine and put on an apron. He grabbed an arm and put it into the meat grinder. He started grinding it, the sound of bone getting crushed was music to Neils ears.

After about an hour, Neil had ground up all of
what was left of his wife. He took the basket of meat outside and placed it next to the grill. He fired it up and took the meat out of the basket. He placed a slab on the grill and it started cooking, blood seeped out of the meat, and soon, it was cooked. He put the rest in the freezer and sat down to eat his dinner.

"You told me to make my own food, well that's
exactly what I fucking did." He mumbled and started eating.
