Usually, Jinx didn't do much for her birthday. Growing up poor there wasn't much she could do. Vi would usually get her whatever she wanted to eat, and a single present.

But now it was different.

She had hundreds of thousands of people wishing her a happy birthday online, and not just a birthday party, but a birthday ball. Along with that, some
school were even closing in her honour.

It was incredible what was done for English royalty on their birthdays.

Cassandra had sent a driver to bring her back to London in the early morning. The ball wouldn't be till the weekend, when people could actually attend, so she was taken to one of the family's 'vacation homes'.
It was nice for privacy, since the public has little to no knowledge of it. Of course it was still a damn mansion, but it wasn't as fancy and Victorian.

Caitlyn and Vi had sort of been living there, apparently wanting a little space from Cassandra, which somehow she didn't take offence to. The only good thing about going to 'their' place was they had a cat. And it was shy.

It was only five days, then Saturday they'd have the ball at Buckingham Palace.

She got to their house around noon. Cassandra had already let her know she would be there till night. Which meant, surviving Caitlyn and Vi until then. Though she doubted Vi would have much to say.

Caitlyn welcomed her with an enthusiastic hug, Vi a little less, but still a hug. They both wished her a happy birthday, and Caitlyn filled her in on the schedule for the week.

And then she sat in her designated room.

There wasn't much else to do.

Mess around on her phone till dinner. Try to find creative ways to respond to all the happy birthdays.

It didn't end up going that way.
After about an hour of sitting on her phone in a nice, cozy, well lit room, there was a knock on the door, and before she could even say anything, Caitlyn came on in, shutting the door behind her.

Weird, in a bad way.

Jinx sat up, carefully watching Caitlyn's annoyed face. That always meant talking about something she didn't want too. She kind of had forehead lines already, probably from constantly looking annoyed.

"I know it's your birthdays and you hate awkward conversations with me...." Caitlyn started, loosely crossing her arms,
"But I think it's a good time for this, if you'll allow me to talk to you."

At least she asked. That was a pretty nice birthday surprise.

"Will it bum me out even more?"

"It depends."
