Two fuzzy figures, one with blue hair on top of another person, who had blonde hair, in a grass field with rain pouring down, further ruining the quality of the image.

Jinx stared down at her phone. She didn't think her day could've gotten worse.

She'd ended up leaving the beach the day she got the call, and spent the entire rest of the summer following Cass around wherever she went.

It was real. It was happening. Cassandra was really sick. And Jinx didn't want to waste a single moment. But, the summer ended, and with that, Cassandra made it clear Jinx was still to attend Piltover, even though she'd begged not to go, at least for the first semester.

She couldn't stand it. Even though everyone was telling her it was fine but she knew it wasn't fine. Even with dim lighting she was starting to hear the shadows telling her it wasn't.

Now she had even more to worry about going to school again. She didn't want to deal with drama yet, she just wanted to hide away and get through school. She didn't know what else she could do.

Same as last year, she moved back into her dorm August eighteenth. Every trip to bring her stuff up she made sure to keep her head down, not feeling like talking to anyone yet.
It didn't take her much time to set everything back up, a new posters, and a new hiding spot for her stash of firecrackers.

Once that was done, she lay down in her freshly made bed, and stared up at the ceiling, which she'd slightly vandalised with paint. She didn't want to do anything else.

If she checked her phone, anyone could've texted her, and she didn't want to interact with anyone right now. Other than Caitlyn or Cassandra, but she would call them later anyways.

There was also social media, which was surely on about something. She didn't want to hear any of that either.

She didn't just hang around Cassandra all summer, obviously Caitlyn was there too, since it was her actual mom. Spending all that time together, bonding over the same terrible thing, they got to be a good bit closer. Which was really nice. Caitlyn was really helping her, and Jinx was doing her best to do the same.

Even though it had already been a while, it still felt so weird to have an actual family. That could possibly be torn apart in a matter of months.

She hated it, so much, and there was nothing she could do about it.

Jinx rolled onto her side, trying to get a little more comfortable so that should could try to sleep through the rest of the day. Just like last year.

She shut her eyes, completely ready to fall asleep. Nothing to bother her but her own thoughts and occasional whispers.
