A Midsummer's Caress

Chapter 28

Jax called Unser to see if they could get into Harlow's truck to get the booster seat and Harlow's purse out of it. Unser promised he'd bring both by the clubhouse as soon as he could. The truck was totaled he told Jax and suggested Harlow call her insurance company as soon as possible. Willow was scared when she was wheeled upstairs to have an MRI done on her head and brain. The technician had to give her something to calm her down which put her to sleep after the medicine kicked in to keep her calm enough for them to do their testing. Once they had the MRI done, she was wheeled into another room to have a sonogram done of her belly and then taken to have x-rays of her chest, back, and all four limbs. The pediatrician wanted to be extra thorough after hearing there was a SAMCRO member looking after the young girl. He was a bit afraid of the biker club and didn't want to incur their wrath by sending the child home when there were still problems with the child that needed to be dealt with. Once all the testing was done, she was wheeled back into her room and moved from the wheelchair to her bed. The medicine was stronger than the nurse thought it was as Willow was still out from it.

Quinn packed a bag of clothes, a couple books that had several stories in it, and some of her favorite toys to help occupy her when she got to the clubhouse. Since he was there, he thought he should pack a bag for Harlow too just in case she was released from the hospital while they were still on lockdown. Chibs waited in the living room as Quinn was packing what he needed to for Willow. The ginormous blond came out with two duffle bags and said he was ready to go. While Quinn and Chibs were gone, Unser arrived at the clubhouse with the booster seat and Harlow's purse which had her phone in it. Jax thanked him for his help before Unser left the lot. Him and his officers were still doing their investigation on the crash but so far hadn't had any luck in discovering who had run Harlow off the road. He was already gone by the time Quinn and Chibs returned to the compound.

Tig left Harlow to go see what the doctor's had found out about Willow. She was still asleep from the medicine but was starting to wake up finally. The nurse was taking vitals again when Tig entered the room. He asked how her testing had gone so the nurse told him the doctor would be in shortly to go over all the testing that had been done. He thanked her before looking over at the toddler. It was another half an hour before the doctor came in looking over Willow's chart. Tig sat at the edge of her bed rubbing her leg as he waited for the doctor. The nurse came in so the doctor had her take vitals one more time.

"How is she?" Tig finally asked.

"The MRI shows no type of brain damage. The x-rays do not show any type of broken or fractured bones other than her arm and the sonogram shows no signs of trauma to organs. Her vitals are stable so I think she'll be good to be released. I'll send her home with a mild pain killer that should be easy on her stomach and an anti-inflammatory to help ease the pain in her arm." The doctor explained.

"Thanks." Tig replied happy the little girl at least was being released.

Tig sent a text to Jaxletting him know he was just waiting for Willow's prescriptions and dischargepaperwork before he took Willow to Harlow's room. He wasn't sure yet if Harlow wasbeing released or not. It took another half an hour before the nurse came in toundo all of the machines from little Willow. She handed Tig the dischargepaperwork and the prescriptions. He thanked her for all their help as she wastaking the IV out of Willow's arm. Once she was ready to go, Tig asked if shewas ready to go see her mommy. Willow nodded her head yes so he grabbed aholdof her tiny hand and led her to the elevator so they could head down to the rightfloor. When they arrived, the found the room empty making Tig wonder what wasgoing on. He sat Willow at the foot of the bed and headed to the nurses stationto see where Harlow was. They told him she had been taken for testing makinghim nod his head and give a simple "Thanks". He walked back into her room andhad a seat in the reclining chair. He sent another text to Jax to let him knowWillow had been officially discharged and they were waiting in Harlow's roomwho had been taken for testing. He hoped she would be released that day as wellbut would know more later.
