A Midsummer's Caress

Chapter 52

A/N: This idea came from my daughter who dreamed this the other night. I hope it comes out as well on paper as it did in her dream. This is kind of a collaboration between us as she wrote some of the fight scenes ;) Thanks for reading!

Harlow cleaned the kitchen and put away the leftovers as Quinn was playing with the kids outside. With a smile, she headed down to her room so she could take herself a hot bubble bath and relax for a little while. The kids were in good hands and she didn't worry about them while her husband was with them. The hot water felt good as she sank down into the porcelain tub. Perhaps one of these days her, Gemma, and Lyla could have a girls' day out like they'd had a long time ago. It was fun and really nice to get away from work and the house for a while and just spend some time with the girls for once. Yes, she'd have to call up Gemma and make the suggestion. Do a little shopping, maybe get some manis and pedis, maybe get their hair done. Hell, they could even go to the spa if they wanted! That would be a good day! Getting facials, a mud bath, and deep tissue massages which Harlow thought they could all use. Oh yeah, that would be an amazing day! Once her water began to get cold, she bathed quickly and washed her hair. After drying off and getting dressed for bed, she went to tell the kids it was time to come in only to find Quinn had the two boys in the bath and Willow was on the couch in the living room watching a movie to await her turn in the bath.

As soon as the boys were dried off and into their PJ's, Quinn got Willow in the bath while Harlow read a few stories to the two boys before putting them to bed. Willow was giggling and splashing around making her father laugh. With the boys tucked into bed, Harlow headed down to their room to get settled in bed herself. She had found an old movie to watch as she waited for Quinn to finally come to bed after getting Willow settled in bed. He stripped down and slid into bed when he returned to their room. After getting settled, he pulled her into his side and wrapped his arms around his 'ol lady bringing a smile to her face. When he woke up the next morning, he was alone in bed. Begrudgingly, he got out of bed to take himself a shower and get dressed for the day. The kids were already at the table drinking milk and chattering away as Harlow was preparing breakfast. Fried eggs, waffles, and bacon this morning. Quinn poured himself a cup of coffee then walked over to kiss his wife's cheek before getting settled at the dining table to await breakfast with his children. Once everything was ready, she began bringing plates over to the table. While she was busy, Quinn began cutting up the waffles for the children. Harlow finally brought their two plates and sat down to breakfast.

After Harlow got the kids off to school, daycare, and did her spot cleaning for the day, she sat down in her office and called Gemma to arrange a girl's day out. Gemma was more than thrilled at the idea and suggested they make it that Friday. Harlow quickly agreed as Gemma said she'd call Lyla and let her know. They'd meet up at the garage and then they'd head out together in Gemma's SUV. Harlow was excited for the girl's day out coming up since she didn't get out of the house much. As the week went on, Quinn could tell his 'ol lady was getting excited for her girl's day out. It had been a long time since they had gone and made a day of hanging out and shopping and whatever else the women did on these excursions. Friday started out like any other. Harlow got up, got a shower, got dressed, then got the coffee going before she started on breakfast. Quinn got up a short time later, got himself a quick shower then dressed before waking the children up and getting them ready for their day. Once everyone was awake and dressed, they all headed into the dining room to get settled at the table as Quinn made himself a cup of coffee. After breakfast, Quinn helped Harlow clean up, kissed her goodbye, hugged the kids, then headed off to the garage. Harlow got the two older children off to school then dropped Kian off at daycare. Instead of heading home, she headed to the garage to meet up with Gemma and Lyla for their day.

Gemma bid her son a goodbye when Harlow and Lyla had both arrived at the garage. Jax kissed his mother's cheek before she set out on her girl's day with the other two women. Gemma's first stop of the day was to get their nails done. Harlow giggled as they pulled up into the parking lot. This is what she was getting excited about. Lyla wanted a simple French manicure done and Gemma opted for the same. Harlow wanted something different. Her favorite color was purple so she opted for a sparkly purple acrylic nail set. The women were all taken to their seats so the nail technicians could work their magic. The ladies chatted with their technicians all through the process. It amazed Harlow what a good set of nails could do to your hands! She was already starting to feel like a brand new woman as her nails were getting done. After the technician finished with her, she paid her bill and waited for her companions. She couldn't help but keep looking down at her hands and smiling.
