Ch2

Bella walked into her house with Luke following behind her. She tried her best not to look at the mess, to not look at the blood stains in her living room. She quickly changed into a pair of dark jeans, a George Mason t-shirt and Toms. She put her hair up into a messy ponytail and dabbed blush and eyeliner on her face. She came out almost five minutes later.

"Well that was fast." Luke said, standing at the door, facing the kitchen. He couldn't look at the living room either.

"Yeah, I don't think I could shower here, you know?"

"Yeah. Well, why don't you get some of your shower stuff and some clothes and bring it over to my place? Just until you feel comfortable here."

She chewed on her lip as she folded her arms. "No, I couldn't make you sleep on the couch again. I'll stay at a hotel."

"You're kidding right?"

"What?"

"Bella, I'm not letting you sleep at a hotel, and pay for a hotel, when you have a perfectly good place to stay. I don't mind sleeping on the couch."

"You sure?"

"Of course. So go pack."

She smiled and kissed his cheek, thanked him, then walked back to her room.

Bella and Luke walked quietly into the hospital room where Travis was lying. He was eating his mashed potatoes and corn the hospital gave him for lunch.

"Hey!" He said coarsely. "I was wondering when you two were going to show up."

"We figured you'd be resting all morning." Luke said as they shook hands.

"You had us so worried." Bella slipped an arm around his neck and pressed a kiss to his temple. "How are you feeling?"

"Terrible." He paused and looked up at her. "Bella, I'm so sorry. I-I tried to stop them, I did, but-"

"Hey, no. Don't start that. I know you did everything you could to protect her and that's all I can ask for."

He nodded, but he wasn't convinced.

"So, what exactly happened?" She asked as she sat down in the chair beside his bed. Luke sat on the arm.

"We went out for dinner and a movie and came back around 11. When we walked in everything was trashed. I told her to stay at the door while I looked around. I picked up the phone to call the police but the line was disconnected. The last thing I remembered was Blakely screaming."

Bella sighed and rubbed her forehead as she leaned forward, rubbing her eyes. Luke placed his hand on her back and gently rubbed it.

"So you didn't see the person who took her?"

"Barely. I just know it was a man."

She sat back, looking up at the ceiling.

"The police will find her." Luke said.

"With what trail?! The only person who saw the guy is Blakely and she's gone!" She shouted as she stood. "It was pitch black outside, the neighborhood was fast asleep! No one else could have seen him!" She paced back and forth. "So how the heck are we going to find her!?"

"We'll find a way."

"I'm sorry Bella," Travis began. "I really wish I could be more help."

She sighed deeply and looked at him. "It's not your fault."

Luke got up and stood beside her. "Travis, did you see anything odd yesterday? Was anyone watching, or following y'all? Anything out of the ordinary?"

"Um, not really. Or not that I can remember."

"Well if you do remember, let us know. It could help."

"I will."

On their way to work Bella's phone began to ring.

"Hello?" she answered.

"Bella!" Her mother called out in a panicked voice. "Bella, what's going on?! I was just watching the news!"

"Mom, slow down! Just take a deep breath, sit down, relax, don't have a heart attack."

"How can you tell me to calm down?! One of my babies is missing!"

"Mother! Do you want to know what's going on?!"

"Don't take that attitude with me young lady!" Her voice became distant as a deeper voice got on the line.

"Bella?"

"Hey dad." She said with a heavy breath, listening to her mother rant.

"What's going on? Who's hurt?"

"I got home last night around midnight and my place was trashed. I found Travis on the ground in my living room with a bullet in his back. Now the doctor's managed to save his life and he's doing fine."

"And your sister?"

Bella sighed and shut her eyes. "She's missing." Ryan let out a cry of despair. "The police are trying their hardest to find her, they assured us that they have the best of the best on the case...I'm sorry dad."

"It's not your fault." He sniffled. "Just keep us in the loop."

"I will."

"Talk to you soon." He said hopelessly before he hung up.

Bella sighed and dropped her phone onto her lap.

"Everything okay?" Luke asked as he placed his hand on her knee.

"No, not really."

"We're gonna find her. The police are looking for her, along with secret intelligence."

"Yeah, I know...I'm just afraid of what they will find..."
