Chapter 10

Ch10

When they came to the corner of the hall where the vault was located, they noticed two guards standing by the large circular door.

"Move back." Bella whispered to Blakely as Luke unscrewed a light bulb from a light fixture on the wall. He rolled it across the floor.

"Hey." One guard said. "Go check it out."

Soft hesitant footsteps inched closer to the wall. The trio were pressed tightly against the wall, waiting. The barrel of the gun inched around the corner.

Luke grabbed it and pulled the guard forward. He yanked the gun out of his hand and hit him in the nose with the end of the rifle. the guard crumbled to the floor as the second guard came around the corner and was smacked in the temple with the gun. He fell to the floor unconscious.

"Ou, Luke! I've never seen you in action before!" Blakely said in awe with a bright smile.

He chuckled and shook his head. "Come on." He grabbed a key card from one of the guards and they rushed to the door. He slipped the card into the slot and the door opened.

Inside was a 10 by 10 room with gold walls and white tile. In the middle of the room sat a casement with the book.

"Great!" Blakely said as she was about to step in. Bella pressed her arm across Blakely's chest.

"Don't move." She ordered.

"Why? What's wrong?"

Luke grabbed the map and tore off a small piece of the corner. He folded it into a tiny airplane and let it fly across the room. It didn't make it three inches before it was sliced in half.

"Of course there's lasers' guarding it." Bella said as she slumped her shoulders.

"I think there's a panel over there." Luke said as he began digging in his bag.

"Oh that's wonderful Luke, but how are we going to get over there when we can't see the lasers?"

He pulled out a small vile that looked like a container of breath spray.

"Luke this is no time to put the moves on me with breath spray!"

"It's not breath spray! And I don't need breath spray to be able to kiss you!" He defended. "Do I?"

"Well I'm sure neither one of us has the best breath since we have kind of been held captive for two weeks."

"True. Anyway! It's just water. It's not much but maybe it'll work."

She grabbed the spray and pushed on the top, creating a mist that fell over a few lasers.

"Hold my gun." She said, passing it to Luke. She stuck a leg through the air, remembering where the lasers were located in that region. When her whole body was standing upright she sprayed again. A laser was 4 cm away from her nose. She ducked under it and stepped forward slightly. Suddenly every laser became visible.

"What happened?" Asked Luke.

"I felt something giveaway under my foot, I think I pushed on something to make them visible."

"Well that's nice." Blakely said with a nod.

"Yeah, makes this a lot easier." Bella began moving more quickly. Crawling, sliding, flipping and jumping through the lasers. She came face to face with the panel on the wall and pushed the disarm button. The sound of released pressure sounded through the room and the lasers were disarmed.

"Yay!" Cheered Blakely as Bella and Luke went for the book.

They took the glass box top off and stuffed the book into the bag.

"Okay, what's next?" Blakely asked with bright wide eyes.

"I think it's time to split up." Bella said as she looked over at Luke.

"Are you crazy?" He asked. "We can't split up! What if someone gets caught?"

"Look, someone needs to grab Leeway while someone destroys everything!"

"Well then we'll destroy everything then we'll grab Leeway!"

"Luke you know we won't have time. Especially if we have to blow it up."

"Blow it up!?" Blakely shouted.

"I see your point Bella but I'm not willing to split up! Enough has gone wrong with this mission, I'm not going to let anything else happen."

"Nothing else is going to happen. Look, Leeway is chained up in my room. He's knocked out, no one is looking for him. We haven't set off anyone yet, so long as we stay quiet and quick well be fine. Now, this is my room." She pointed to the room on the map. " I cuffed him to the bed so he's not going anywhere. Here are the keys."

"No." He said.

"No?"

"I said no, we're staying together."

"Luke," she clenched her jaw. "Don't make me force you."

"Do it then! But I'm not willingly going to leave you!"

"Bella, I don't think he's budging on this." Blakely said with her eyebrows furrowed.

Bella looked between both of them. Blakely rocked on her feet, she could tell she was nervous. Luke had his arms folded across his chest and he had a stern look on his face.

"Fine. We stay together."

Luke nodded and handed her the keys. "Let's go get Leeway."
