"Are we even allowed to be doing this?" Kaminari asked, bringing the blunt to his lips."I think so," Faye replied giggling and flipping her hair to the side. "I don't really know though, I'm new to this sort of stuff."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, I died and I had a perfect balance of positive and negative traits." Faye stated, making a blunt for herself with a flick of the wrist. "So in order to go to the 'Great Above' I need to work here for a century."
"How old were you when you died?" Kaminari questioned, crossing his legs.
"I was twenty-one years old," Faye said with a sad smile. "Never even tried half of the cocktails I've wanted to try."
"Geez, a whole century spent working with lost souls." Kaminari mumbled, leaning his head onto the wall behind him.
"It's not all that bad," Faye explained in a cheery voice. "I mean, time goes by faster here."
"Huh?" Kaminari asked, sitting up from where he was lying.
"Every 'day' in this place is a week on Earth." Faye responded, crossing her arms. "So technically I only have to work five-thousand and two-hundred days."
"Wait, so you're telling me that I've been in a coma for a week now?" Kaminari asked, dropping his blunt onto the white floor.
"Yeah, did I forget to tell you that?" Faye wondered, feeling terribly sorry for the terrified-looking boy.
"Dude, I have to get back." Kaminari said, standing up and pacing around the room.
"You've only been here for a day," Faye stated with a frown. "Don't you want to stay for another?"
"Yeah, but I'll also get a butt-load of homework by the time I get back." Kaminari assumed, scratching the back of his arm as he paced.
"I'm sure there are bylaws against that." Faye said, placing her hand on Kaminari's shoulder.
"Yeah," Kaminari muttered, stopping everything he was doing. "There are."
"See, so just calm down." Faye whispered, rubbing Kaminari's shoulder. "Would listening to the messages your friends and family left you make you feel better?"
"We can do that?" Kaminari asked, looking into Faye's glowing eyes.
"When will you learn that basically anything is allowed in 'The Beween'?" Faye chuckled, making a square with her fingertips.
Suddenly, a bunch of faces appeared in front of Faye and Kaminari and they all said the same thing: "Please wake up, we miss you". However, there were two faces that caught Kaminari off-guard.
Hanta Sero and Himiko Toga.
You might be thinking Why would his boyfriend and sister catch him off-guard? Aren't those the two people who care the most about Kaminari? But it was the pure pain and distress in their faces and voices that felt like Kaminari was being stabbed in the heart.
Kaminari wanted to go home so he could cuddle with the people he loved the most. But, at the same time, he wanted to stir the pot. He wanted it to really sink in to his friends that he was gone. He wanted them to morn like he was dead.
Kaminari wanted to be a little toxic for once.
"Light the cigar and pass it to me." Kaminari demanded with a smirk.
