Matsuda was sneaking around the stage in the academy gym. He figured that this would be a good tactical position, considering he was by himself for this fight. Looking around the curtains on stage, he spotted that some of Riser's pieces had found their way there.

Matsuda: Geez, there's already some of them here. I trust Issei, but sometimes I swear he has a screw loose.

Flashback

Matsuda: Umm... I don't think I heard you right. Can you say that again?

Issei: You heard correctly apprentice. You'll be fighting by yourself.

Matsuda's jaw hit the floor in disbelief. He was not prepared for a one on fifteen battle.

Matsuda: I can't fight all of them at once! At least tell me why no one else is fighting!

Issei: Fair enough. Listen, you're the only person in this room that Riser and his peerage can actually pose a challenge to. The rest of us could kill any of them if we aren't careful. You can fight them without having to hold back every ounce of power you have. Don't underestimate yourself apprentice, your opponent will do that for you.

Matsuda: *sigh*, I guess you have a point there.

Issei: Trust me, I would never put you in a situation were I wasn't absolutely sure that you were capable of handling it. I trust you, so you should trust you. You were taught by the best of the best, Akame, Baki, and me. The power of the boosted gear and the force is more than enough to take on fifteen glorified punching bags.

Matsuda: You're right! I can do this!

He summoned the boosted gear in his left hand.

Ddraig: Boost!!

Issei: That's more like it, show them what the apprentice of a sith lord can do!

End of Flashback

Matsuda was still behind the curtain thinking about how he was going to handle this challenge. Suddenly, his thoughts were interrupted by one of the people he saw before.

???: We know you're there! No point in trying to hide!

Matsuda was slightly startled by the sudden command. He gulped before continuing his thoughts.

Matsuda: 'Well shit. Guess I should just get it over with.'

He steps out to reveal himself. At this point, he was able to get a good look at the pieces he would be facing for the first time. Two twin like girls happened to be carrying chainsaws of all things. One was wielding a wooden staff, and the last one was bare fisted.

Matsuda: 'The one with no weapons has to be a rook. The other three on the other hand, they aren't letting off a whole lot of power. They're either bluffing, or they're pawns. Wow... did I just deduct that all by myself? Man I'm good.

Snapping him from his thoughts again, Riser's rook speaks up.

Xuelan: I am Xuelan! A rook in service of Riser Phoenix!

Lle & Nel: We are Lle and Nel, pawns for Riser Phoenix!

Mira: I am Mira. Another of Riser Phoenix's pawns.

Matsuda was stood in place with a bit of confusion. He became puzzled when they all spoke their names and piece.

Matsuda: I'm new to this whole rating game thing, but is it normal to shout all that info out loud to your opponent? Doesn't that put you at a disadvantage or something?

Xuelan: Of course it is! It's a sign of curiosity, but I expect a sith dog like you to not understand.

Matsuda growls at her remark. He had grown to respect Issei greatly, and didn't want anyone disrespecting the person who made him better than the nobody he was before.
