Chapter 3: A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one

Scene break

Veyron (aka Issei) and Matsuda have teleported to his mansion where Raynare was waiting.

Matsuda: What is she doing here!? She just tried to kill me!

Issei: That will be explained in a moment. For now, you two may take a seat in the next room over.

They silently walk over to the next room. The room had a western style layout, furniture, and decorations. Large couches and chairs, with a 70'' television over a glass fire place, finishing the room. Matsuda nor Raynare had ever been in a room quite like it, and stood in the entryway for a moment before catching themselves and doing as Issei had asked. As they situated themselves on the couch, as far away from each other as possible, Issei stepped into the room with coffee and tea on a tray. He set them down on the table centered in the living room, and sat down on the couch opposite from the couch of Mastuda and Raynare.

Issei: Way are you so far apart? You're going to be near each other for a while you know.

Both Matsuda and Raynare continue to look away from each other.

Issei: Mm, I see.

He lifts his finger slightly, making Matsuda and Raynare slide towards the center of the couch. When they stop, they're nearly shoulder to shoulder. They look at each other in surprise, then back to Issei.

Issei: There, much better.

He starts to pour the brew of coffee in to some of the cups in the tray, then the batch of tea into the others.

Issei: Coffee, or tea?

Matsuda and Raynare pick up a cup of tea and sip it, while Issei takes a mug a coffee and does the same.

Issei: Now that we are comfortable, it's time we get down to business. The both of you need to be made aware of this faction's history before I teach you it's ways, and my new way. How educated are you two about the Christian Bible?

Matsuda: Not very much to be honest. My mom is all about it but I never really paided much attention to it.

Raynare: I fell from grace, so I know a lot about it.

Issei: Matsuda, do you know anything about the Old Testament?

Matsuda: A little bit.

Issei: Then this story won't be to hard to follow. It all starts in the book of Exodus, when the Israelites we're taking their journey through the desert. When the Israelites started to lose faith in god, a small group started to experiment with natural space.

Issei: So now you know our history and how the system works, correct?

Mastuda and Raynare nod.

Issei: "Good." He looks at the clock to the side wall. "Hmm, that story took a little longer than I was expecting, it's time to turn in for the night. Matsuda, you will return home for now, your training will start soon. As for you Raynare, you are staying here the time being."

He waves his hand and sends Matsuda back to his home and then tells Raynare the directions to the nearest guest bedroom. After that, he sits back down on the couch and talks out loud.

Issei: This is going to take some time to get them into the ideal shape for Sith.

???: Patience, my friend. They show good potential.

Issei: Don't worry about me. I've been patient for years, a couple of weeks or months is no big deal. You know that as well as I do.

???: Yes, you're right. But, I find it most interesting that your apprentice is also destined to be our rival. What will you make of that?

Issei: I'm still making decisions on how to handle that. You can leave it to me though, in due time, I will have my apprentice, and we will have our rival.

???: It will take years for him to reach our level partner. Do you really think he will ever catch up to us?

Issei: Maybe, maybe not. We will see. Good night my friend.

???: Good night, partner.

Issei and the mysterious voice stop speaking, but the Sith Lord then receives a transmission from an unknown origin. Confused, he steps forwards and answers the call.

Issei: Hello?

???: Greetings, lord Veyron.

Issei: May I ask who this is?

???: Yes sir, I am Grayfia Lucifuge. Queen and wife of lord Sirsechs Lucifer, and head maid of the Gremory family.

Issei: I see, why have you contacted me so late at night? I have a busy day ahead of me.

Grayfia: My lord Sirsechs wants to speak with you on a matter of great importance. He would like to, at the very least, make you aware of his proposal before the night is done.

Issei: Very well, send me your location. I will acknowledge his proposal to me.

Grayfia: Very good my lord.

After getting confirmation from Grayfia, Issei teleports to the meeting room in the underworld. There, Sirsechs, Grayfia, head of the Gremory family Zeoticus, and his wife Venelana, were waiting for him.

Sirsechs: Welcome lord Veyron. We have been expecting you.

Issei: Greetings devils. To what do I owe this fine night?

Zeoticus: It's a discussion about my daughter, Rias.

Issei: Rias Gremory? She attends Kouh academy right?

Venelana: That is correct.

Issei: So why is she the point of this meeting, and your proposal, Sirsechs?

Sirsechs: Because my mother and father have appealed to the devil counsel, and have agreed to terminate the contract that binds her and Riser Phoenix into marriage. In its place, a new contract was created.

A contact that had been pre written appeared before the group, with a Quil pen next to it.

Zeoticus: We would like you to take Riser's place.

Issei was taken a back by this. He had not expected such a risky move by these devils. He looks down at the contract.

Issei: So let me get this straight. You want me to marry your daughter and be bound to each other for the rest of our lives? Why?

Sirsechs: We know she would not be happy with Riser. He is arrogant and pompous with no regard for others. He would treat my sister like a trophy to put on a pedestal, gloat about it for a while, and then forget about her. We want her to be in better hands. Plus, we want to start on good terms with you, after all, we received word that you are building a new and better Sith faction. Correct?

Issei: Yes, you give good points. And, a powerful friend and ally wouldn't hurt so early in the game.

He look down again at the contract.

Zeoticus: Do you accept?

He pauses for a moment. He looks up at the four devils, then looks back down at the contract and skims through it, just to make sure everything in it is fair.

Issei: After careful consideration, I do accept your terms, and the engagement to Rias Gremory.

He signs his name on the contract, solidifying the binding between him and Rias, for life.

Zeoticus: Thank you lord Veyron. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for this.

Issei: Hmph, is was the least I could do for you. I look forward to our next meeting. Take care.

Sirsechs: Thank you, you too lord Veyron.

Issei teleports back to his home and gets ready for bed. When he is finished and slips into his bed, he once again thinks to himself.

Issei 'Hmm, an engagement to Rias Gremory huh? A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one never the less.'

With that last thought, he drifts to sleep.
