Daichi ended his friendship with Kuroo after figuring out how he behaved with me. It had been one month since we officially started dating, and I sat in class trying to figure out something to give him. We had planned to go out for dinner and exchange gifts at the restaurant, but I only had a week to figure out what to get.

It was currently math, and me not focusing didn't make me any more intelligent, but math was the least of my worries. If Daichi didn't like my gift, he would be too nice to say it, so I had to find something perfect.

"Yachi?" A voice startled me out of my daydreaming.

"Yes?" I looked up to meet the teacher's eyes.

"Do you know the answer to question three?" She held the chalk up to the board.

"I can guarantee you I don't."

The bell rang, and I quickly gathered my stuff and walked towards the cafeteria. Kiyoko met me in the hallway, and we collected more people as we strolled down the hall. The day was as usual, we all ate at a table and chatted, attended class, and when the day ended, we walked to practice. I decided to stay since I was going to Daichi's house, and while they played, I did my homework.

"Ready to go?" Daichi walked up to me while stuffing his stuff in his bag.

"Yeah."

I had my hand in his as we walked out. He told me about their next practice match, and as always, he was over the moon to play with another team. We came to the front of the school and-

"Y/n?"

We abruptly halted and looked at the man in front of us. He had dark hair that was gelled back over his head neatly. His hands were in the pockets of his dress pants, and underneath the suit jacket was a white shirt, slightly hidden by a dark tie. I felt Daichi gaze at me, but my eyes remained on the grown man.

"Dad?" I felt Daichi's hand tighten; he was expecting this just as much as me.

"What, what are you doing here?" My lips were parted, making it easier to take big breaths. I placed my other hand on Daichi's arm, pressing myself to his side. Dad's eyes followed my arms. His brows furrowed disapprovingly.

"I came to get you." The rasp in his voice was as stern and annoying as ever. He wasn't someone to show any other emotions than anger or annoyance. Something I had a lot of right now.

"Get me? You can't just collect me." I tried to straighten my back, looking more confident. But in front of him, I was never confident.

"You're my daughter." He said more as a fact, "I decide what you do."

I scoffed, "I decide what I do with myself. And now, we're leaving." My hand dragged my boyfriend with me, ensuring we were out of dad's reach.

"You left America without telling me," His frame turned towards us where we had barely passed him, "didn't you think I would come after you?"

Daichi's brows raised. He didn't know how I got here, only that I did.

"If I told you I wanted to leave, you wouldn't have let me." His eyes were stern as he stared at me.

"I wouldn't have let you ruin your life."

"I haven't ruined my life! I fixed it."

"Fixed it? Do you think flirting with a boy aligns with being on the national swim team?"

My chest was burning. All I wanted was to pick up a rock and sling it at him, but he wouldn't go away even then. He never gave up until he got what he wanted.

"Flirting with this boy is what brings me happiness. Swimming is what makes you happy, not me."

Dad leant back, examining Daichi. He sighed and commanded, "we'll talk about this elsewhere."

"You can't just-" I started, but Daichi touched my back. My orbs moved to his; he was wearing a small smile, reassuring me.

"It's okay; you can come over tomorrow or after you're done." He glanced over at dad and back to me, "I'll be here when you need me."

He pulled me into his arms, resting his head on mine. When he pulled away, he kissed my temple, turned to dad and gave him a slight nod before walking away.

I followed his figure until he disappeared behind the gate, and then I turned to the devil with a sigh, "you happy?"

My feet thumped on the ground as I followed him towards his car.

We rode in silence. I had nothing to say to him. I understand that leaving without telling him was stupid, but if I had told him, he would have kept an eye on me every minute of the day. He wasn't the man he was before we left for America. Swimming was just an excuse for me to follow him and persuade him to come back, but instead, he used me like I was a doll.

"Who was that boy?" His voice scratched against my brain, making me tilt my head to make it crack.

"My boyfriend."

"I don't want you to date him."

"Well, I already am."

He was quiet, probably thinking of a way to force me to break up with him, but whatever he threw at me, I would not let anything happen to my relationship with Daichi. He parked the car behind a building, a restaurant by the looks of it. Whenever we had a disagreement, he would take me out to eat so that I couldn't "make a scene".

I sat in the car for a few seconds, trying to contain the anger in my gut. Here we go; let hell begin.
