Chapter 21
Mina waits for her father to call her into his office, pacing the waiting room fretfully. Last night, Jungkook was taken here by the vampire hunters, thanks to Yoongi.
I have to persuade him. They'll understand when I explain what's happening.
Mina tries to comfort herself as she waits on her father. It has been too long since Mina has seen Jungkook. Is he okay? Did they hurt him? Is he comfortable? Will they kill him? Is he chained up?
All these thoughts run through Mina's mind, making her feel queasy. No answers and only questions are something Mina despises.
Right now, as far as she knows, Namjoon is in there giving her father an update on Jungkook's situation. Namjoon is very neutral in the vampire-human situation. He doesn't take sides. Hopefully, he is unbiased in his report.
"Cho Mina?" Mina looks up to see her father's assistant standing up from her desk, her phone in her hand.
"Yes?"
"Your father will see you now," She gestures to the closed door near her desk - the desk Mina was just pacing in front of.
She must be glad that I am going in now.
Mina nods and storms forward, bursting through the closed doors. She looks around the room, momentarily startled by the number of people inside. She is faced with her father seated behind his desk, Namjoon standing next to the desk, Yoongi standing on the other side of the desk, and Kim Taehyung sitting in front of the desk. She ignores Yoongi, bowing to Namjoon and her father before standing behind the chair beside Taehyung.
"Alright, Mina," Her father looks at her gravely, "I've just been informed of the situation with the Gumiho,"
"Jungkook," Mina snaps, glaring at her father, "He has a name,"
Her father nods reasonably.
"Jungkook, then," He clears his throat and gives her a very piercing look which plainly says that she needs to let him speak first, "So, from what I know, this Gumiho - Jungkook - has killed 10 people, and severely harmed a vampire hunter and a vampire. Am I wrong?"
Mina stiffens. He isn't wrong, but there is a reason for those deaths.
"No," Mina murmurs, "But..."
"Wait," Her father holds his hand up. Mina goes silent, her jaw clenched angrily.
"Gumiho's can enchant people into believing them," Yoongi murmurs, "I believe Mina has been persuaded to guard him,"
"That is NOT true, and you know it!" Mina yells.
"QUIET!" Her father bellows. They go silent.
"The Gumiho isn't fighting back, sir," Namjoon frowns at Mina, directing his words to her father, "He is also much more powerful than we anticipated,"
