Chapter Seventeen

Orion, Anakin and I entered the room Padmé was in quietly as to not bring attention to ourselves. Padmé held her hand up and enclosed in her fist was a hologram disc. She dropped the disc and I caught it with the force bringing it to me. I glanced up at Anakin before I turned to Orion.

"Orion, take this to R2. If we're not there in ten minutes leave without us" I said and handed the boy the disc.

"But-" Orion began before I cut him off.

"Go!" I said as I pushed him forward.

Orion nodded and began to run to the landing platform.

"Anakin, we need eyes on Lott Dod to make sure he doesn't see Orion" I said turning towards the man I've grown to love.

"What about you?" Anakin asked his blue eyes captivating me.

"Im going to make sure Padmé is escorted out safely" I said causing Anakin to nod.

"See you on the other side" Anakin winked before running off to find Lott Dod.

I watched the boy go until he was out of sight. I turned back to see Padmé lose consciousness.

"Milady!" I gasped out running forward, "what happened to her?" I asked.

"I don't know, she's fallen ill" Clovis rushed panic in his voice.

"We need to get her to her quarters immediately" I said as Clovis picked her up.

Clovis and I began to run towards Padmés quarters. Once we reached her room he laid her down on the bed.

"She needs immediate medical assistance" Clovis said worry in his eyes.

"I'll go find help" I said as I turned and exited the room.

I searched the vast halls looking for Anakin. I ran down an empty corridor and rounded the corner to see him.

"Anakin!" I said running up to him, "Padmés fallen ill, i think she was poisoned. We need to get her back to Coruscant" I said grabbing his hand and running back towards Padmés quarters.

Once we reached our destination yelling could be heard from inside the room. I ran inside and shoved Clovis back.

"If you value your life I suggest you stay where you are" I growled putting myself between him and Padmé.

"How dare you talk to me like that, Im a senator" Clovis scolded.

"I don't give a damn what you are, take another step and you'll be lucky to walk out of here" I responded a fire burning in my eyes.

Clovis closed his mouth immediately and took a step back.

"Anakin, we need to get her to Coruscant" I said keeping my eyes on Clovis.

"There's no time for that, she's been poisoned by Lott Dod" Clovis said sadly, "He must have an antidote" he finished.

"Then take us to him" Anakin insisted.

"She's stolen a valuable disc from me, return it and I will get the antidote from Lott Dod" Clovis tried to negotiate.

"We'd prefer to negotiate with him in person" I said feeling as though we are running out of time.

"He cant find out that-" Clovis began.

"That what, you lost the disc? Im sure he'd love to hear all about that" Anakin said smugly.

"He might kill me, but still I fear for her life because I love her" Clovis professed.

"That's nice and all, but you're wasting time. We need to go" I said motioning for Anakin to pick up Padmé.

"Follow me" Clovis said motioning for us to follow.

We followed him out to the main hall making our way down the grand staircase.

"What is going on Clovis?" Lott Dod asked walking calmly towards us.

"The senator is very Ill, we must get her back to Coruscant for immediate medical attention" Clovis replied as we continued walking.

"You cannot leave!" Lott Dod yelled as we made it to the bottom of the staircase.

"Give me the antidote or you're dead" Clovis said pointing a gun at Lott's chest. 

"You will regret this... Give him the antidote" Lott said motioning for the Neimoidian beside him to give the antidote to C3PO.

"Your kindness is appreciated" Clovis said sarcastically, "Go get her out of here!" Clovis said motioning for us to leave.

We nodded and made our way to the landing pad boarding the ship immediately.

"Wait!" Clovis yelled as the ship began to lift off the ground, "Give me back my disc!" He finished in a panic.

"Oooo, you see we can't do that. The senate would love to see what a traitor you are" I winked as the boarding ramp finally closed.

I made my way to the front of the ship just as Padmé began to wake up.

"Padmé, im so glad you're ok" I said squatting down next to her and grabbing her hand.

"We got the disc" Padmé smiled weakly.

"Yeah we did, you did a great job" I smiled back, "Now get us home" I said to Anakin and Orion.

Once our ship landed on the landing pad outside of the temple, I turned to thank Padmé.

"Thank you for the help Padmé, we really couldn't have done it without you" I smiled at the woman I considered my sister.

"It was my pleasure Anala" The woman smiled back and have me a hug.

"Go home and get some rest Padmé, you've had a very long day" Anakin chuckled.

"That I have" She chuckled back, "I'll see you later Anala" She smiled before walking to her speeder.

"You two report back to the council, I've got something I need to do" I told Anakin and Orion.

Anakin looked at me, confusion etched on his face. Before he could speak I was already walking towards the temple. I wandered the corridors of the temple for what felt like ages. So many unanswered questions raced through my mind all at once. I was brought back to reality by Master Yoda's voice.

"Much on your mind, there is?" He questioned.

"Ah, Master Yoda I didn't see you there" I chuckled sheepishly rubbing the back of my neck.

"Dodging the question you are" Yoda chuckled.

"It's just been a long day" I forced a smile trying not to reveal what storm is truly raging on inside my head.

"Talk to me when ready will you?" Yoda asked genuine care reflecting in his wise old eyes.

"Of course master, now if you'll excuse me I think I should get some sleep" I bowed and excused myself.

As I walked I couldn't help but think big change was coming, that there was a threat brewing just beyond the councils eyes.
