Three years have passed since I was first brought to the temple to train under Master Plo Koon. I am now twelve years old. The day has come to where I get to make my own lightsaber.
"You've excelled in your studies and your combat skills Anala" my master smiles "I'm very proud of you and the young woman you are becoming" he said pride evident in his voice.
"Thank you master, I do my best to be the best warrior this order has ever seen" I said puffing my chest out.
"You have no chance at that when I'm in the order" a voice said behind me causing me to roll my eyes. "You're blind, there's no way you could be the best" he finished a smirk growing on his tanned face.
I turn around to come face to face with none other than Anakin Skywalker.
"And yet, here we are. Im indeed blind and im STILL better than you" I spoke a fire igniting in my heart.
"Now now this is not the time for arguing, you've both got a big day ahead of you on Ilum. You get to construct your lightsabers today" my master spoke smoothly defusing the situation.
I turn my back to the sandy haired boy and begin walking away with my master, still feeling Anakin's eyes lingering on the back of my head. My master and I arrive at a ship that is ready to take us to Ilum. We board the ship and wait for everyone else to get there. As the rest of the younglings pile into the ship the last to arrive is Anakin himself. I'd recognize his force signature anywhere. He saunters up to me and sits right next to me. I scoff and roll my eyes scooting away.
"Come on, im not that bad am i?" He says sarcastically scooting closer again.
"I'm not sure what gave you that impression" I spoke disdain wrapped in my voice.
I felt Anakin's emotions shift briefly but return to his usual smugness. Wonder filled me as I thought about what the shift was. Was it sadness? Hurt even? No its Anakin Skywalker, no words of mine could possibly hurt the Chosen One. We despise each other how could they. As the ship took off I began to feel the excitement of some of the younglings and the anxiety of others. I didn't quite know how to feel at this moment. Anxious? Scared I won't be able to do it? Excited I finally get my own lightsaber? These emotions swirled inside me like a raging storm on Eadu until my master placed his hand on my shoulder. He squeezed it to reassure me everything was going to be ok. His presence soothed my thoughts for the time being. We arrived to the snowy planet of Ilum my anxiousness being replaced with a sudden rush of peace as I began to become one with the force around me. The force was strong here and it soothed me to the deepest parts of my soul. We got off of the ship and listened to my master give the directions of what to do.
"We can only enter together, stretch out your hands and focus the force" my master spoke loudly over the snow fall.
I outstretched my hand and focused all of my energy onto the door feeling my peers doing the same. Suddenly I heard a crack in the ice as the wall came down allowing us to enter. I began walking forward before anybody else moved feeling the force pulling me inside.
"What're you guys waiting for" I spoke excitement bursting through my voice. "Lets go!" As I finished Anakin began running past me. I scoffed and ran after him stopping when I felt the presence of master Yoda.
"Master Yoda!" I exclaimed surprised by the green man.
"Welcome Anala, welcome Anakin" he spoke amusement playing on his aged features. As the others came filing in Yoda began to explain what to do.
"Build your own lightsaber you shall, but first harvest your own crystal you must" Yoda said in his backwards way of speaking. "Trust yourself and trust the others and you will succeed". He finished his old eyes falling onto my master.
